tl;dr Try mono-vision. Correct one eye for close focus, one for distance.
I have worn contact lenses for over 50 years. Needed, but didn't wear, from around age 13. Started softcontacts around age 20. After years of nearsightedness, vision began to deteriorate, and I lost the near vision when wearing my contacts. Wore readers initially and then...was out of lenses for my more corrected eye. Popped in a less diopter lens and while I didn't see distance nearly as well, I could read print and at book/computer distance, things were clear. Eureka! (This is called mono-vision, one eye close vision, one far.)
Originally, it was less corrected in the left eye, as that needed the most correction. I am a right-handed shooter, so I recently changed eyes, Distance is the left-eye, close focus the right. Now I could see the sights clearly and the target if the brain shifted to left eye to focus down range.
I've always had the problem of my brain wired with left eye focus but since a kid firing BB guns, I always fired as a righty. I've toyed with holding a pistol slightly moved to focus on sights with left eye. Jury out on whether that would be that being more effective. Then I'd have to switch diopters again.
Yes, this can be done with glasses. You might have to twist the arm of the optometrist.
