Pulled Over with a CCW

When I took my handgun qualification, the trainer (retired PD and military) stated when he finds out he pulled over (for traffic violation) a CCW carrier, he would just let them go. He believes that if you have a CCW, you are a good person just making mistakes.

I was pulled over last year for speeding. San Mateo Country Sheriff had me on radar 52 in a 35. I was NOT carrying but presented my DL and CCW as I that time I thought I need to present even when not carrying. Told the officer "I was NOT carrying", to which he said "Then why are you giving me your CCW" with a slight laugh. He took both back to his car. Came back and said "I'm giving you a warning for the speed, but a fix-it ticket for no front license plate". Handed me back everything and said "Have a nice day".

Not sure the CCW played into it, but glad I did not get the speeding ticket.

My IA requires me to notify law enforcement regardless of whether I am carrying or not.
Not all IA have that condition

Not pulled over, but was driving through a DUI checkpoint in LA (LAPD) after work on my way home. My car was "selected" for random secondary instead of just driving through the checkpoint. Officer explained what's going on, I said not a problem and presented both my DL and CCW letting him know I'm carrying appendix while I placed both hands on the steering wheel. He said "Cool! Thanks for letting me know" and let me drive off. Didn't run my DL nor asked any other questions about the CCW.

I wasn't sure if I should have not mentioned anything about CCW/carrying at the time, but it all ended well so I guess it's alright.

Sheriffs don't like doing paperwork. Unless you give them , they usually let you off with a warning.

I had an incident in Mountain View. Confirmed I had my carry on me, showed my permit. He just said "wow, you're carrying a full size?"

I said haha yea.

He proceeded to, "alright well get that tail light fixed"

That was it
