Question Ranges and Training near Santa Clara County area

Hi yalls! I’ve been into firearms for about two years now, and I’ve recently become more involved in the sport. I’m curious to hear about the ranges and training facilities that people here in the area use. Whether it’s tactical, defense,competition shooting, or even just ranges to train. I’d love to know where you’ve trained and any recommendations you might have. Thanks in advance!

I go to Reed's on occassion just because my buddy lives 5 minutes from it. It's kind of a show on weekends but its pretty nice on weekdays.

I usually go to Reed’s during my lunch breaks on Mondays since thats my remote day, whenever possible that is. Definitely not trying to go here on the weekends

Definitely need to check that place out, it’s been on the list. I usually go to Reeds and Field Sports when random time frees up but my 10 year old and I like to go to Astoria Range in Soledad.

Los Altos Rod and Gun isn't in Santa Clara county, but is my go-to range in the area.

Both Los Gatos Rod and gun club and Sunnyvale rod and gun are great places.
Los Gatos range allows you to shot tin cans and rapid fire.
Sunnyvale allows steel targets, also paper targets are free.

Reeds is very convenient. But expensive, dark, full of non-educated renters. I have not heard anyone was shot there by accident, but I don't want to be first one.
Panoche good when it is not that hot outside.

For training I can recommend https://aspfirearm.square.site/ , I did CCW with them and was satisfied.

I would only practice pistol training if you can draw from a holster. Once you get past learning how to shoot a pistol well you need to practice self defense scenarios. Drawing practice at home while dry firing is good but nothing beats actually shooting live rounds while utilizing a draw from a concealed holster. Unfortunately most public ranges don't allow drawing from a holster (even if you have a CCW) unless you are a law enforcement officer. So I would advise going to some public land that you can shoot in or if you know someone with land that will let you shoot at.

Shooting uspsa matches with Manzano Gun Runners will allow you to work on some of these.

The drawback of Panoche is the roads to get there. Don't be taking your nice ride- take the beater for sure.

Suprised Metcalf hasn't been mentioned. Down 101 just south of Hwy 85 intersection on the east side of 101. Its a Santa Clara County Park- they have a website. It sall outdoors- couple dozen pistal stalls/lanes, rifle ranges too. Check but I think they're closed Tuesday and Wednesdays. No drawing from a holster (or anything else), 3 seconds between shots. Sig M18 (or its variant family members) are not allowed.

Huge shotgun ranch with about a dozen (18?) ranges across 101 from Metcalf- Coyote Valley Sporting Clays.

I’m planning to take a few courses with LFA in San Jose and another course with Defensive Accuracy in Richmond. I’m willing to drive around 1.5 to 2 hours out for training
