Looks like standalone Optics Ready slides are available for both the M&P 2.0 4.25" and the M&P 2.0 Compact 4". A straightforward way to address the biggest criticism of the CA Compliant M&P 2.0s.

The OR slide has great front serrations that are missing from the stock CA Compliant slides and I believe the suppressor height sights are Trijicon based off the OR slide that I own but it may be different for this version.

The plastic optic plates that come with civilian OR slides are pretty 💩 but there's good aftermarket plates by Calculated Kinetics and Eleven 71.

I can personally attest to the quality of Calculated Kinetics Holosun EPS plate but they also just came out with a new plate for the Vortex Defender XL which is my favorite optic on the market currently.

Ruger did this for the MAX 9 as well.

Shop around. The MAX 9 OR slide was $199 MSRP (though that included the barrel and a passive red dot), but you can find them online for about $120 shipped.

I'm sure the S&W M&P 2.0 OR slides will be available for less.

The slides are usually the most expensive part of the gun. It’s a milled piece of metal and finished with a coating and test fit with barrels, springs and other components vs injection molded polymer.

Prior to S&W releasing these for sale, resellers on eBay were flipping them for near $400 about half a year ago...
