Smith & Wesson (SWBI) reports its Q1 FY2027 earnings after the market closes today, and the numbers will be especially interesting given the flood of new products we've been seeing.

Last quarter, S&W reported $178.4 million in sales, up 26.7% from the prior year. More importantly, new products accounted for 37.5% of total quarterly revenue. Handgun unit sales into the sporting-goods channel increased 23.2%, while industry NICS checks increased only 1.1%, suggesting S&W has been gaining market share rather than simply benefiting from a stronger overall firearms market.

For the full fiscal year, new products represented 38.1% of S&W's sales.

Considering all the new M&P, Bodyguard, Carry Comp, Steel HD and other models S&W continues to release—including another large batch of California-roster additions today—it will be interesting to see whether that new-product momentum continued into Q1.

Smith & Wesson Reports Strong Q1 — Sales Up 32%

Smith & Wesson (SWBI) just reported Q1 FY2027 results, and the numbers were strong.

Net sales were $112.6 million, up 32.3% year-over-year from $85.1 million. The company returned to profitability with $2.6 million in net income, or $0.06 per share, compared with a loss of $3.4 million, or $0.08 per share, in the same quarter last year.

Gross margin increased to 28.7% from 25.9%, although part of that improvement came from a one-time $2.9 million tariff refund. Adjusted EBITDAS increased to $13.8 million from $7.4 million.

The results are particularly interesting given S&W's aggressive new-product strategy. Last quarter, 37.5% of the company's sales came from products introduced within the previous 12 months, and we've continued to see a flood of new M&P, Bodyguard, Carry Comp, Steel HD and other models — including another large batch of California-roster additions today.

Management says it expects Q2 sales to be approximately 10% higher than last year and continues to forecast 5–7% revenue growth for the full fiscal year.

Whatever you think of some of the new models, S&W's strategy of constantly refreshing and expanding the product line appears to be working.
