I've had good experiences with them. Done a few PPT's, one time they got some paperwork wrong and I had to go back and they gave me some free range time. I've used the lanes a few times and it's a nice clean place. Usually seem to have enough staff to handle the crowd and staff is easy to talk to.

Been going to SGR for 10 years now - overall very positive. Clean professional indoor range with 34 lanes (25-yd & 50-yd). Fairly effective A/C but watch the 100 degree days. Online lane reservations/walk-ins allowed but may have to wait when busy. Current management have made the range efficient and professional vs previous iterations where experience was subjective to range officers on duty that day. Tiered membership offered with multiple ammo and firearm discounts built into more expensive membership tiers. Good retail counter sale prices at times. Many classes offered. Haven't done a PPT in a long time as old process was unnecessarily slow but hear its improved. Good gun rental selection but as they require you to use their ammo, it can get pricey quickly.

Seems they charge junk fees: $47.19 CA State Background Fee. California charges this fee to conduct the check and we will collect that fee at the time the background check is entered into the CBI system. <--- That is outright lie.

The state charges $31.19 for background/registration, $1.00 safety, $5.00 more safety, so total DROS fees should be $37.19

I wouldn't want to do business with any such dishonest entity.

Yeah I like the facility and the staff but the I avoid the retail operation. Their prices a high, sales prices are what others charge normally. Shipping takes forever, and yeah adding on junk fees doesn't help

This is our favorite place to shoot.
We go twice a month, and are paid members. The membership is totally worth the price if you go for at least 2 hours a month. Lots of benefits.
They do walk in PPT's 7 days a week, not very many places will do that.
For reference, we live 10min from San Leandro Rifle Range, but drive an hour and a half to SGR.

Ive never seen a single place that charges less than $47.19 to do a ppt.
Do you have a list of places that do? Just curious.
I guess at $37.19, they do the paperwork for free?

They charged me $47.19 for new gun out of their retail dealer inventory, so Not a PPT.

Maybe out that way its different. I swear every place in the Bay Area charges 47.19 for both.
I must have misread the original post, my fault.
Ive done 3 or 4 ppts at SGR, but never bought anything new there.

I love Sacramento Gun Range. The staff is professional and friendly and the facility is very clean and inviting, which is refreshing from the usual firing range ambiance. Only complaints I have: rental gun ammo can be pricey and PPTs can take a while (although they allow walk-in PPTs which is awesome). Gold membership is worth it and it allows you to use the 50yd range if the 25yd lanes are packed. 10/10.

The staff, with one exception is very friendly. (One young man seems pretty disdainful of at least me whenever I've spoken to him. I'm very friendly and chatty, and sometimes he won't even respond, just give me side eye.) The memberships seem quite expensive. The retail stuff and out of state services seem expensive. The lanes are pretty expensive, and the tip option every time you pay for a lane rental makes me uncomfortable.
However, everything is nice and very clean, I appreciate the effort they make to make you feel welcome. Having a 50 yard indoor range is sweet. If you rented a lot of guns, as a member the free rentals would be a good deal.

Maybe I'm just spoiled because I'm ride or die for Yolo Sportsmen's where I pay sixty bucks once a year, and then five bucks per all day range visit all year long. It's awesome. It's remote, but I also like a country drive, so it's worth it to me.
