Hello,

In our continued effort to develop into a more mature system, I'll be working on developing the search options. For a long time, people requested more calibers. Now you'll get your chance to make a request.

10/.40 will be split
9mm
38 spl

12/16 will be split.

We're also going to be moving some of the search options around.

If you have anything else you'd like to request. Please make a suggestion below. We're considering different things to add or enhance.

Further north area specific zones from Sacramento. Some parts of the state are 5, 6, 7 hours from Sac and clumping together makes zero sense.
 
Like the increased options for calibers but the most epic search feature I’d love to see is auto-search. For example, I select keywords and a series of filters (for example a marketplace) and receive a notification when a new result has a positive match.

Likely would increase DAUs by pulling back in latent users and further build areas of interest volume to help with growth.

You could also tier it where a free account has up to 3 auto searches, and paid could have 10 or more.

Yeah I know what you mean, we have saved searches for paid tier. We don’t automate for a couple of reasons. We might give one saved search now that it’s been around but not automated for free. There’s overhead associated with it and it encourages people not to visit since they set and forget. So that is on the cards for a single saved search for registered members and more for paid.
 
Is there any way to categorize a search to separate private party from commercial listings? When I use my “ saved search” for 38 Special for example, I see non-related 38 Special special commercial listings. Maybe I’m doing something wrong?
 
Bay area, redding, Sacramento, Humboldt/Mendocino would cover it. Not enough people in modoc probably.

Click on Parts and Accessories category first.. hit the save button again. This way it'll search ONLY in the Parts and Accessories Category.

Its likely you have it saved items.

We don't have a way to exclude the items from index searches, but they won't show in category searches.
 
I would love if you can filter out searches from sold vs not sold to make it easier to read. For example if I’m looking at an Atlas 2011, the first few options are available, then may are sold before I come upon another one that’s available. It would be great if the sold or non sold were all in one grouping. Thank you.
 
A "new today" filter would be great. I get why people bump their threads, but I'm tired of scrolling through the same listings that have been on here forever. (I realize you can sort by create date, but it's not quite the same).

That's what the saved searches are for.. You can save it to default to create date...
You just need to upgrade your account. The upgrade is supposed to make life easier and support the site. Otherwise, we need people to view what little ads we have.

Also now that you mention it.. There's two things we're doing right now to address this problem

  • At some point, there was a bug and many listings don't expire. We're going through and setting expirations on all of those
    • There's a quite a lot that got made. Some people might be upset but we don't want things to linger forever too.
  • The standard has always been 90 days for free accounts 120 for Paid, we might move to 180 but that's the limit.
  • This is to setup for a policy shift in the future. You can renew for another 90 days. So you have 6 months to 12 months.
    • Eventually for a policy shift to delete ads older than 2 years automatically.
  • We're also going to push free accounts bump period. Currently its 2 days. It'll be bumped up to 3-5 days.
