Shield Plus vs Shield X on a CCW Permit — Worth the Swap?

depending on your body type the shield X grip is longer and will poke out of your shirt more

the main benefit of the shield x to me is the rail which opens up way more light options.

With the pink extension the shield plus is the most shootable small gun imo

UPDATE:

I really do love the plus so much. It’s such a great Gun shoots very well and extremely accurate.

After doing a little more research, I think the only thing that the X talks to me more is the longer grip which I have the 15 rounds for the plus which feels perfect, but I’m probably gonna get the 13 rounders and then I’m good. Even though it’s shorter what were these magazines you have a really good purchase

If you are going to carry. I believe you have to carry with 10 round in CA.. correct??

I use www.pearcegrip.com Way better than S&W and SIG finger extenders. We have both p365 and shield plus. Made a world of difference. I also just got a Wilson combat 365xl grip module to upgrade my wife’s p365. Also got her a radian ramjet so psyched to set that all up.

I think p238 is picky on the ammunition. I have seen multiple reputable reviewers on YouTube such as 3 of 7, honest outlaw, and some others have failures on camera. Some of those could have been p938.

Yes I’ll probably swap the P238 for the bodyguard since it’s a better purchase in the hand and more rounds!

I have both and have shot hundreds of rounds with them and can 100% say the shield x is 10x better and personally shoots much flatter.

Ah, my bad, there's the Performance Center comp slide. I believe it will also fit the Shield-X since the plus and X share the same rail geometry.

ihave bg 2.0 and had the x and shield comp
bg2.0 is GREAT. fits in my pocket. Shield and X just did not shoot that well.

Here is her new P365!! I am jealous now. FYI. The barrel did not have notch cut out for the chamber indicator.. so I may machine it later on. For now, no indicator.

Shield X is worth the upgrade! Tad bit longer grip.

I had a similar dilemma to this where I needed to choose between the Shield Plus and the X for CCW. After renting both guns and shooting them back to back, I went with the Plus. While the X has a longer grip, it's thinner than the Plus so I felt like it moved around in my hands. I also shot the Plus better than the X even though the X has a longer barrel and a longer grip.

Pinky ledge baseplates for the Plus mags get you most of the X's grip length. So I would only do the Plus to the X swap if you want the tritium front sights, better slide serrations, marginally thinner footprint, and the rail for a WML.

I love the NDZ metal pinky grip extenders for my (original) Shield.

Note: Their website is a mess, so search for "base plate shield", then pick the one that says "Shield Plus, Equalizer".
