Trade addict ?

Is anyone else deep in the game and entirely addicted to trading gear/guns .
While I realize some people have inexhaustible funds . I do not but still wish to partake in the best of the best . The only reasonable way to obtain said items is through barter/trade . I personally love the chase . Can't quite put my finger on it but it seems to be my driving force as of late .

If the ad says "or trade" and it's something of interest, I'll jump. I had quite a few SKSs, Mosin 91/30s, a few bolt milsurps and a number of .22s for trade fodder that saw their way to the exchange lane. 2 ratty ATI Monty stocked receiver scope mounted SKSs & 2 Mosin 91/30s for an ST40 (Modesto), a Yugo 59/66, commercial SKS & a home-grown SKS Paratrooper for a Luxembourg FN49 (Stockton), a GEW88 plus some ducats for an as new KSI Hunter SKS Paratrooper (CO), garage sale VZ24 (rough, mismatched) for a nice but mismatched M44 (NM-long gone) and a shorty Glenfield M75 straight trade for a RIA M1600 (OR). The FTF receiving fees are the deal breaker anymore. I've recently thrown out a couple offers for a Argentine FN49 (Paratrooper SKS & Mosin 91/30) and the same offer for a Hakim, both local PPT. Still waiting. The SVT, Lux FN, Paratrooper and the RIA M1600 (I picked up 2-I bought one outright for a hunnerd bucks FTF) are here, PAX

I’ve got a fair amount of great quality guns, gear, cars and tools on trade. Hell I got my first car (‘72 Mustang) on a trade for a go-ped when I was 13. Kid was 16 and couldn’t get the stang runnin. All it took was new spark plugs and fresh gas. Oh the memories in that car! Sold it to an old man for $7k and bought my first truck. Traded it for a ford ranger. Sold that for 12k, and sold my dirtbike for 2k. Put the money down on a new truck for my 18th birthday. Sold that years later for $2k more than I paid new. Love bartering

Before I was a hard-core gun nut, I was a motor head. Can't tell you how many VW bugs & buses changed hands or were built into Bajas, or guns swaps for a starter or water pump install. At least firearms take yp less room and don't smell like 90wt. Turned over a couple flying machines too.
The SVT fella (FFL bud) showed me the OG receipt, $235 decades ago (also got a big box of spares + ammo, later a Winchester Garand, spares + ammo on clips in bandoleers, $1300), the Lux FN49 was listed at $2400, the Hunter Paratrooper was priced for $650. I'd had my iron for many moons, so I was happy. PAX

That's me as well. Since 2018 I moved 15 SKS (dupes, parts built or mismatched), 3 A5s (Sweet Sixteen, Magnum Twelve, Light Twelve) all were nice but had the stocks cut for home installed recoil pads and needed new barrels in Kali for steel shot. A guy in NC took all 3. PAX

I have always preferred trades over selling. I have lots of stuff that I have picked up that I don't necessarily collect or that I have duplicates of that I've been trading for stuff that fits my main interests. It is always interesting to see what trade offers you get. I've politely declined a lot of trades but also found some gems I wouldn't have even thought about - just snagged a Phoenix Trinity H-TAC that way.

One aspect of horse trading that is often missed on one side of the equation, is that if one fella has a decent piece he's trying to move, it's often easier to sell two lesser items that totals X amount +, than it is to try and fetch the greater value (X) all at once. When I got my SVT years back it was that way. There were a number of tire kickers at $1300 but no bites. I traded 2 SKSs and 2 Mosin 91/30s for it and they were gone the same day for around $1500 total. A little more work but more payoff, PAX
