UPS is out of shipping ammo from individuals

UPS is apparently out of shipping ammunition, unless you have a regular delivery driver!

I tried to ship some ammo. No big deal, I've done it in the past. Just go to the UPS Distribution Center as their online instructions read (no UPS Store, no CVS Pharmacy or Staples... it has to be the actual Customer Desk at a Distribution Center), and no issues. Well, almost no issues.....

UPS decided to close ALL the customer desks at ALL their Distribution Centers... Nationwide.

So if you need to ship ammunition, FedEx is your friend. UPS got woke.

They got "woke", or they've closed "ALL the customer desks at ALL their Distribution Centers... Nationwide."

I suspect it's more to do with the company losing money operating customer service desks, than not wanting to ship ammuntion.

UPS definitely delivers firearms and ammo to FFLs. I think it’s because of the background check we can’t get it delivered… we just had that recently where they dropped that background check and you could get ammo shipped to your door for a week or so I thought. Shipping it would be a whole other story with becoming a hazmat shipper to start.

Edit: oh yeah about the customer counter, you can thank new CEO Carol Tome. That position was a preferred position filled by high seniority drivers. She cut those positions pretty quick

UPS has taken a noticeable leap downward in quality over the past few years, and is almost as useless as USPS. I say that from experience, but it is a general trend throughout the service industry all across America.
DEI hiring, lack of values, and a foreign-born workforce have combined to make the entire shipping industry shaky at best. Reliable delivery of mail and packages used to be considered important, an icon of American tradition and culture. If you grew up with that, you will understand. Now it is not generally the case. Sadly.

How are you measuring that? My only frame of reference is the daily deliveries I get from a good driver. I rarely have delayed UPS deliveries and can't recall the last time something was lost. Damaged packages are usually an issue with the packing.

On the other hand, where I'm at USPS and FedEx have gotten worse with late or delayed deliveries.

I think it's largely driver dependent though. From an overall package delivery standpoint I see many more delays with FedEx (ground or express) coming a day or 2 later than I do from UPS.

Measured by:
1) number of claims I’ve had to file for missing parcels.
2) number of parcels damaged during shipment.
3) number of parcels that have been subject to “delays in transit”.

Yes, drivers are part of the problem. When you actually observe a parcel being dropped from the door in a manner we would call a “drive by”, that is but one example. There have been others, such as a case of shotgun slugs that had gallons of oil spilled all over the case, seeped through, etc.

As to damaged packaging, most of it is external and occurs during transit. However, there are also several instances in which some companies such as Midway USA, have failed miserably to securely pack items.

I wonder if their performance is a regional issue. I've never had to do #1 and get an average of 5 a day. In the past 10 years I think I've had 2 items damaged during shipment and they were minor. #3 for me is far worse with FedEx than UPS in my area, but I do get some with UPS. Not really sure if it's a huge uptick in recent years or not.

Totally dependent on the area. There’s some centers that can miss thousands of packages in one day and some that don’t need all the drivers they have to make service.
