Sat in on a free USCCA “CCW fundamentals” class at sportsman’s. Their instructor said “45 will rip a guy’s arm clean off” I swear to God lmao. He recommended .22lr as a viable caliber for CCW but skipped .380 straight to 9mm?!

He’s also a current CDCR officer… part of the class was him talking about handling this prisoner and I’m just thinking what does this have to do with CCW lol

The USCCA guy at my CCW class was a joke and couldn’t answer simple questions about what’s covered, what’s not, etc. You need to do your own research and make an informed decision.

I still went with USCCA because the coverage makes sense for me (especially considering recent contract/policy changes). AOR is not all some make it out to be despite an effective social media campaign.

As someone who has had a 22LR round go straight through them(luckily) from at least 25' away, I can say I would feel very confident using one in self defense

I would 100% agree like 10 years ago (even when people thought nothing under a .45 would harm a human), but in today’s word of tiny 9mm micro compacts I don’t see any reason to carry a .22lr. What benefit do you gain when you have several 9mm 10+ round offerings that can be carried with a tight fitting tshirt and bball shorts?

Oh, for sure, but if it's all I had, I wouldn't be too upset knowing firsthand what that round can do.

Obviously .22lr can kill someone and is a deadly weapon, rimfire is less reliable and more finicky. That alone kills it.

Then there’s the fact you can have 9mm in a micro gun. Even .380 is nearly pointless these days when a p365 is tiny and has 10 rounds of 9mm

Totally agree. That's why I carry a 365 95% of the time.
