USPS Signature Required Work Around

I don’t know why i didn’t think about posting this here before. As a rural mail carrier and being in the know- there is a signature required work around that mainly elderly customers use.

You have to ask your post office for a blank Form 3849, that looks like this-


If you sign the backside on the bottom, laminate it, and leave it taped to the inside of your mailbox or on your porch we can scan that form to appease the signature required delivery requirement. If your carrier is unaware of what you’re trying to do maybe leave them a note as not all carriers understand the work around.

It depends on the type of signature option that they selected. I believe for these shipments noted as "restricted" that card option is the only one that will work.

I use the online signature and it did not apply for a shipment I received yesterday.
