You’re being swindled on Off Roster Glocks

Glocks are reliable but, nothing special. Concentrate your efforts on other off roster firearms. Gen 5s selling for $1600.00 that are NIB Blue Label for $525. Tell the Off Roster Glock sellers these are not special to be selling for $1600 PPT.
Everything is three times the normal price in California not just guns, tell someone in Mexico you're buying a mediocre burrito for $20 and they'll show you the best burrito you've ever had in your life for $3.50.... Location

I've never been crazy about gen 3 Glocks. Accuracy is not at gen 5/6 levels, the stock trigger is mediocre, it's not optics ready, it has the ergonomics of a 2x4, and until recently with the gen 5 mags, the 10-rounders were often not reliable with JHP. On the plus side, reliability is mostly good (it either is or it isn't, I had one of the brass to face G26's for a while about 12 years back) and I like the simplicity of the design.

Since we're looking at a minimum of 6-8 months of ambiguity with nothing new available and no official word on whether there is a plan or not... one of my Glocks is already for sale (at what I have in it) and the other likely will be too, eventually. If it ends up being a state without Glock's, for me that's not the end of the world. I'm really more of an HK guy anyway. Good reason to make some space in my safe and focus on other things.

Why do you care what people want to spend their money on. It's none of your business what someone choses to spend their money on.

Where did I say anything about anyone else? Am talking about my own personal choices. You do you. It would be a really boring world if everyone was the same.

It’d make the forum very boring if everyone just keeps to themselves instead of voicing their opinion. Discussion and banter are good.
Voicing opinions is ok, we just ask don’t be a 🍆 and go keyboard warrior. A lot of people meet up in person so we hold a higher standard for discussion. Treat this site as your internet range. There’s lots of highly opinionated people. We want to give people a chance to articulate a position without getting overly upset. Banter is good but keep it chill.

Would you feel better if I called you a big meanie fartie? Maybe I can put your post in AI and have it generate thousands of lines of text extolling your flatulence...

Just remember, there is usually "that guy" in class--don't be that guy. But for the average class...people tend to be very normal.
OK, I made a separate post in response to this that seems to have been massively misunderstood that I was calling you a 🥨 or something. Or maybe an algorithm misunderstood it.

Let me try again:

No, I would rather you NOT call me a meanie. What I was saying in the post you responded to is that YOU DID THE RIGHT THING AND ATTACKED THE MESSAGE AND NOT THE MESSENGER, WHICH IS A GOOD THING, AND WHICH SO MANY PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET DO NOT DO THESE DAYS.

I’d much rather people spend their money on ammo and training but it’s surprisingly hard to get people there.

It’s the same price as an off roster Glock, but people would rather show and tell then have skills and do drills. Hopefully that paradigm will change.

You don’t need 10 different firearms. 2 with good training and a lot of ammo is the shizzle.

1. We are all in the same community and we are all here for different reasons.

2. Not everyone has the time or money for training, it takes both ( kids, job, commute etc make it difficult ).

That being said…

Most gun owners can’t shoot very well and can’t acknowledge what good shooting is. They don’t even know what it is.

If you meet a good apprentice or master in any discipline, they are open minded and always looking in the direction of what needs improvement in a positive way. Learning excites them. That’s who you meet at an Action Club or in training courses. There are very few members of that kind of community who linger on the boards and are in the minority here.

Most of the folks railing against Glocks , don’t shoot Glocks. Most of the folks making fun of folks who train don’t acknowledge the level of skill and dedication it takes. It most definitely means they stay in their comfort zone. That’s perfectly ok.

People win national championships with nearly stock Glocks. They can out gun people who who pay big money for pistols and features they don’t put to use , or use to substitute for training.

The turbo poster whose guns don’t have a scratch will put more effort into talking about a trigger than learning how to pull one. You will never meet them at an Action club or a range getting out of their comfort zone and challenging their skill set.

I shoot CZ’s. Love em. I have come to love Glocks, their simplicity.

The shooters , and I use that as an honorific , I meet have one thing in common : they put in the work to become proficient. There is no snobbery. We cheer each other on because we are looking at skill not gear. No one talks about the irrelevant details that people obsess on here. They buy off roster guns with purpose. They pressure test their gear. No one says : you got ripped off for buying that custom shop Beretta 92, or Gen 5 Glock 45 or Custom Staccato. They just say Right on!

Get the gun you want - dont listen to these folks talk about price...same as getting steak at fancy steakh ouse vs sizzler...its the same cow!
it's all about what you find value in....you want to pay a certain price? DO IT - JUST do it!!!

The heading of your post states, "You're being swindled". You didn't say you got swindled. Clearly you were making a statement that about people buying off roster Glocks and paying a premium.

In your defense, it may have been read as sarcasm. I agree that we should attack the point, not the person.

Same cow, different cut...but sometimes the cows are special too; special grazing or grass-fed only with the best grass, best life, least stress, milked properly, companion animals, diligent caretakers, etc.

This is why people will pay top dollar for Kobe Beef.

Is it all meat in the end? Sure, but we get what we pay for.

I think the issue of on versus off roster has less effect on price than marketplace desirability. Everybody wants the Glock as the new hot thing so the off roster price multiplies. I just listed four guns in the marketplace that are off roster, but they are priced below free state MSRP. This is because they are used, somewhat unique and not the new hot thing on the Internet. Just my 2 cents.

Off-roster objectively makes a gun less accessible without extra effort, expense, complication, and travel time versus a simple local gun store transaction, so there's less supply and hence more demand than there otherwise would be.

It's all relative to the popularity of a given gun, but you won't find a flooded market if the gun is off-roster. Less supply means more relative demand, even for less popular products.

Even if a gun is cheap and terrible, gun stores can't stock or push them for civilian sales to unsuspecting customers when they're off-roster. They can only sell on-roster guns to civilian (non-LEO) customers.

The very fact that a gun is off-roster adds value for FOMO buyers and collectors, if little else.

This a similar phenomenon to the increased demand for a discontinued or soon-to-be discontinued product, even if it's not very good.
