Under the heading "Your News Feed" what are types of "news" are we speaking of?

Items like the recent two shooting, the CA wild fires, earthquake notifications, general interest or are there specific types of "news" that is preferred?

Since there are no posting in that area, there is not anything to give an idea what is proper at the moment.
