29 Outdoor is great
Pros
  • Friendly knowledgeable staff
  • No hassle PPT
  • Free drinks
  • Ample parking
  • Onsite gunsmith
Cons
  • Small space.
  • Higher online xfer fees
29 Outdoor has been my go to FFL for a few years. I've bought a few guns from them, had online orders for guns and ammo shipped to them, but most of my transactions are PPT.

I've done a lot of PPTs here, so many I've lost count. It's been flawless every time.

So many local gun stores make doing a PPT complex, charge additional fees, require appointments or specific days or times, or are just rude about it. Not at 29, they've never done any of that.

It is a small shop, they do have a pretty good selection for the size of the place. The prices can be slightly higher than some other places. Their online transfer fees are also kinda higher, but they gotta keep the lights on somehow. I don't mind paying slightly more for the quality of service I receive.

They have an actual onsite gunsmith too.

Overall a great FFL, it's worth the drive

Quick and painless PPT
Pros
  • No-fee PPT
Did my first PPT with 29OG this week. They had everything wrapped up in 30 minutes and didn’t charge an extra fee like most other FFLs do. Just the state mandated fees plus their $10. They will be getting my business for gear and guns in the future.

First and second experience
Pros
  • Kind team
  • Admirable inventory
  • Gunsmith
Cons
  • Small space
  • Limited accessory selection
First experience:
walk in. Very nice. Small space. Very old school feel. Plenty of firearms to look at but not much space to display so the guns are packed tight.

Second experience:
Arranged for a barrel to be shipped from GunBroker. 29outdoor was not responding to me or the vendor by email and not responding to voicemails. I was able to get a hold of them directly by phone and took care of the details immediately.

Retail prices are a bit high but solid PPT prices
Pros
  • Quick most of the time for PPT
  • Decent consignment selection
Cons
  • Limited space
  • Unprofessional employee
I will continue to keep coming here for the painless PPT process but there is 1 employee whom I won't name that makes it difficult at times. He always misspells part of my name and when I make mention of it he mutters and swears under his breath. Most recently it made a pair of PPTs take nearly an hour as he increasingly grew visibly and audibly frustrated.

I have been a customer since before I moved to the area when I drove out from the east bay to sell Jerry some 50cal rounds I had at the time. I will continue to come back and hope maybe it was just a bad day this most recent time.

Great shop
Pros
  • Cordial and professional staff. A pleasure to shop there.
My favorite gun store. The staff are competent and cordial, and the prices are reasonable. Worth the drive from the inner Bay Area.

My new goto shop and worth the hour drive.
Have had a few internet purchases shipped to their shop and one ppt.
All super easy and at a fair price.
Spent some time talking to Jerry at the range one day. That guy is a true wealth of knowledge and is the real deal CA 2A supporter.

Great PPT experience, good prices
A few people in line before us, but once it was our turn, Max processed our PPT quickly. Digital forms so no transposing from paper to computer, and no extra fees on top of the PPT. Looked at some of the consignment stuff and it was priced very well too.

  • Full shop
  • Good prices

I've done several PPT's here and each time they do it quick and efficient. They are also a big supporter of 2A here and sponsoring the GBC tournament. They're a good, well run shop.

Pros
  • Takes Walk-in PPTs
  • Reasonable Fees
  • On-site Gunsmith
+1 for 29 Outdoor Gear.

I've done a couple PPTs here and always recommend showing up early (right when they open) as they can get busy in the AM.

When people ask for a good gunsmith for a "complicated" issue - I always recommend 29 Outdoor Gear. Their gunsmith is well seasoned and knows their stuff.

IIRC, their transfer fees were extremely reasonable back then. Ammo transfers were only $20 per case which is hard to find these days.

Hopefully someone can post a pic of their current fees (usually posted by their register) - I hope they didn't change too much!
