These guys were GREAT!!
Pros
  • Accomodating
  • Friendly Environment
  • Good Location
  • Patient
Huge shoutout to the team at Peninsula Guns and Tactical!

I was in a massive jam when my seller flew into SFO for a WE day and they don't do PPTs on WE's. I called and spoke to Jeannie, who graciously set an appointment for me regardless.
When I arrived, her brother Omar and the rest of the crew were incredibly accommodating. I completely forgot my FFL-03/COE paperwork during the DROS process. They were totally patient while I dug through my emails for 10 minutes to forward the docs, making me feel at ease while the rest of the counter guys joked around with us.
I know some folks mention they are on the expensive side, but if you want a real mom-and-pop FFL that genuinely cares about its customers, it is 100% worth paying a little extra to support this kind of family business. Thanks again!

Extremely expensive for new gun purchase and ammo FFL
Pros
  • Attentive people working there
Cons
  • $75 per case of ammo to FFL
  • Charges extra for credit card
  • Very good expensive for most guns
The people are not bad but they are really expensive for anything they quote. For even simple Mossberg 88, I had quotes of $350 which is almost double of what they should cost.

My biggest beef is with ammo FFL. I was quoted $75 for 1000 rounds but when my shotgun buckshots arrived they told me because it was in 4 cases of 250/box they are charging per box not the 1000 rounds. That would be $300 and even with a discount that still left me a bad taste.

My recent purchase of new gun also had extra charges because I used a credit card. The problem is that they didn't initially tell me it could cost extra and I did the mental calculation and felt something was off. When I checked the receipt afterwards it showed credit card fee.

Good for first timers
Pros
  • Selection
Cons
  • Pricing
There's a team of 4-6 people here and they're always pretty busy. During COVID, they had a line out the door for a block. Bought my first few pistols from them - they're very accommodating to newbies, no hard sales or "get out of here" mentality. They likely make their bread and butter from selling to people from SF buying their first gun.

After being around the block a few times, learned their pricing is usually $100-$200 more than it should be.

They have a decent amount of pistols, long guns, and accessories in-store so you can check a lot of stuff out pretty easily.

I would classify Peninsula Guns + Tactical as a "decent" FFL in the Peninsula (no pun intended).

I took my FSC here nearly a decade ago and the staff were extremely helpful to a then-2A newbie. Haven't done any transaction there since but the fact that they're open 6 days/week helps.

There was a bit of a "scandal" a few years back where they tried charging exorbitant fees for PPTs on top of the $37.19 DROS fee. A few other nearby FFLs noticed and started following suit. I believe someone reported them to the DOJ and they (Peninsula Guns) have since complied with the $10 + $37.19 maximum mandated fees. However, I am not sure if they openly take walk-in PPTs as I called a year ago and they "were" appointment only (for PPTs).

I will add they always run a "Glocktober" sale every October - something to keep in mind if you're looking for a new Glock direct from the FFL.
