Hey everyone, I finally got my first range session in with the TTI Sand Viper, and I figured I’d share some honest first impressions.
This is my first 2011 platform pistol, so take that into account.
I put about 300 rounds through it, mix of 115 steel case, 124 brass, reloads, and some 124 +P Speer Gold Dots. Zero malfunctions.
A few takeaways:
• Slide-to-frame fit is insanely tight and smooth
• Trigger averaged 1 lb 6.6 oz on a Lyman digital gauge
• Comp directs a TON of gas straight up, noticeably more than Ramjets or typical comps
• Tracks extremely flat, dot stays right in the window
• Balance with a Surefire X300 is excellent
• Only gripe so far is two magazine base pad retention pins walking out
At 25 yards it grouped very well, but not dramatically better than a well-set-up Glock 34 at that distance (for me).
Where I suspect this will shine is speed and longer distance work.
Big question, is it worth $8K+? That’s going to depend on the buyer. For me, part of it is the experience, build quality, and just how different it feels compared to polymer guns.
