📣 CAguns.net x Calguns.net acquisition... (April fools?)

I can't believe I'm saying this but I think CalGuns is behaving better than this site lately. For the past 2 months this does 1 of 3 things, it either takes 5 minutes to load and/or gives me a blank screen to which I have to refresh 15 times, doesn't load at all, or when it finally does load, it'll randomly crash and then I have to repeat the whole 5-8 minutes of no loading, refresh, and it loses what I was looking at and takes me back to the homepage. And it's not a wifi issue, it does it on 5G and on other networks too. (Not a joke). I want to like this site better than CalGuns, but that's hard to do when neither of them work as they should...

Any ideas?

That has to be something on your end, this site runs very well I've never had any issues.

Are you trying to access the site via PalmOS or something? Timex Sinclair? Coleco Adam? Apple Newton? A potato?

I'm thinking of getting one of those fancy 28.8k "Hayes Compatible" modems. This 1200 baud deal cost $500 and takes up the phone line!

No issues loading for me. Maybe you're accidentally loading CALguns from browser cache instead

This site has been pretty reliable, has great text formatting features and adding MFA was a huge plus in my book.

But my biggest F-ing gripe is all the people constantly complaining about the maintainers and mods.

People have absolutely no idea the amount of work it takes to maintain something like this and the amount of restraint it takes not curse people out. And I'll bet $100 that the VAST majority of users contribute nothing.

I hope the admins got a good laugh - at our expense - out of the April fools joke today.

Weird, I’ve never had any issue with this site. Calguns I’ve grown to load enough to browse threads for 2 min and make one post one time in two months so I gave up.

I'll admit there are some bugs, sometimes there are problems. If they're obvious and enough people encounter them, we fix them. I don't know when the last time this person was here but there was a genuine issue with images that I finally was able to reproduce and ultimately fix.

It's just when people say, it's broke.. Calguns works better, its a little comical buuuuut, I'm not going to judge if they like to swing that way.

It's your site Ikeo, if it's doing it across Safari, Chrome AND duckduckgo, AND on desktop, laptop and iphone, AND on 5G, AND on various wifi networks, I'd guess it's something to do with your end. But what do I know... CalGuns is working better at this point, and that's not a high standard, but at least CalGuns, when it's up, loads fast and doesn't boot me out every time it freezes and I'm forced to refresh... this site on the other hand, (if it loads at all) will take forever to do anything, gives me a loading screen, bugs out, then if I refresh it, it just punches me right back to the homescreen and I lose whatever I was looking at (again if it even loads and doesn't fully crash). I was hoping maybe you had an idea or a suggestion to try, but instead I get laughed at. Oh well.

Did you not read what I said? I said there was an issue but it was resolved, but you're not really reporting a problem. You're just saying calguns is working better than here.

I can't fix what you're not describing, if you notice no one else is reporting an issue. It's not working, like it's supposed to, doesn't tell me much. You said, Calguns is working better at this point. I said if that's what you like, I'm not going to judge. Where did i call you a liar? I said I don't know when the last time you came here, you have 57 posts. Look below for what's been implemented or fixed.

We have problems sometimes, we fix them most of the time, there's a forum dedicated to those things.

Please take a look if you'd like to describe the actual problem you think is broken or maybe Calguns handles issues better. That's ok. Maybe you're using it in a way i don't know about, believe it or not that actually happens. There are people here now that use the system better than me, which is pretty cool IMHO. The power users here are pro and I usually prioritize their issues.

Never seen a “loading page,” never had it crash or had to reload, boot me to homescreen, etc. I’ve used many wifi networks and pretty spotty cell service and it always works fine. Same for me. I was a daily user of Calguns and now can only get on every other day or so if that. I’m in Caguns 3-5 times per day every day and have never had an issue.

I'm not going to give dude a hard time, sometimes there are issues but I can't see all of them because we have so many safeguards. Ultimately, if people actually report issues, i'll try to get to them in time.. I've been MIA for a minute working on some things, but when I get reports I'll usually do an investigation.. I just need more than 2 people to describe the problem when there's almost 40k members..

He’s probably trying to load the site on a Commodore 64; obviously most users are having no problems and his reaction is a bit odd…
