Most of these double stack 9mm are too expensive. I don't see a benefit to have a double stack mag that has to be blocked at 10 rounds. I also don't like the fat Glock style grips.

I'll stick with my Springer 1911 9mm target. Mag holds 9, chamber one and it's 10.

I have an atlas erbus, Vulcan built staccato XC, NHC Sandhawk, TTS sandviper the dark forge seems wayyy too gimiky for the cost but I haven’t shot it.

Sandhawk is just sooo solid. Feels reliable like a war gun
Sand viper is shocking. I didn’t want to love it. It’s not a combat gun. May need more break in but it’s finicky.
Erbus has thr best trigger. Feels and shoots great but it’s like a Ferrari. Not sure I’d wanna beat it.

Thr best 2011 I have and shot is the Hayes cobra ported sight tracker. It’s literally uncomparable.

Also in the price point class the sig 211 is a heavy remarkable shooter but has a crappy trigger. Maybe I just like using my 320 mags and knowing it won’t shoot me….

Can you explain the Erebus and Sandviper a little more?

Well a lot of us don't even own a 10 round mags, never seen someone shoot 10 round mags at a match with a 2011 thanks to freedom week.

I have em all, to be honest- I feel like the erebus shoots the most accurate. Softest might be the sandhawk, but its all hard to tell. Once you pay above a staccato XC, the gains are very minimal. I started with an XC when I heard about atlas and then that just opened the 2011 door and there went my paychecks lol

They are gamer guns. If you’re a gammer get the one you like best. Nighthawk has been making great for a long time. Staccato is STI in fancy pants and double the cost that they were for over a decade when no one really gave a about them. I’ll stick to tuned 9mm 1911’s, they have a grip made for human hands, cost half, have decades of good gunsmiths, and don’t shout LOOK AT ME! When you just go to practice.

I’m kinda glad that living in CA I can’t buy all the toys as in other states. I prefer my guns to be DROS’d as semi auto (I agree with AR15Barrel’s point of views). I have to wait for PPT ads. Otherwise, I’d have to buy a backup safe lol.

I asked one FFL if they accept the previous DROS paper work (if available) as is. They said yes. This is somewhat concerning because I don’t see it difficult to create a paper that changes the action to semi. If no paperwork then DROS as is.

I don’t think the FFL would be liable. *I* may be liable for whatever paperwork I sign during the transfer. The state has tried to change what “manufacturing a firearm” means to mean whatever they want it to mean. And the long of the law loves to F- people.

I have a Sand Viper and overall love the gun itself. It has come with plenty of challenges though, so it may need to be tuned, depending on your application. I primarily shoot mine in Competition. It shoots insanely flat with 9mm Minor Ammo.

I was getting Failures to go into Battery, mostly from fully loaded magazines. This was most likely because it came with a 7lb recoil spring. Put in a 9lb spring and that has mostly went away. When shooting a match in the 100*+ weather, I hadn't put enough oil on it or the oil dried up, so the problem came back. I would have figured for the money they would include a tuning pack of recoil springs.

Mags dropping out randomly. This was my fault since I was pressing the mag release button. I wound up removing the big paddle on the oversized mag release and the problem went away.

The slide completely locked to the rear one time. The slide catch wasn't even engaged. No clue what caused it to this day, but it wasn't much fun to have to figure it out in the middle of the stage and I did see one other person saying this also happened to him, but he sent it back to TTI and did not appear to be happy about it or their resolution.

Everyone knows the 1911/2011 platforms need to be run WET. The problem is finding the balance. Too much oil and you'll be cleaning your optic after every. single. stage. Not enough and it won't be as reliable.

Then after all of that, spending doodoo tons of your hard earned $$$, TTI themselves don't give AF about you. Their customer service is literally the worst I've seen in the firearms space.

I wanted a custom barrel for mine. Either a solid barrel like the one they sell, or one with a bigger comp like they show on their website. They said they can't help, nor can they recommend anyone.

Ordered a Magwell, they refuse to ship it. Even with the signed AB1263 acknowledgement form and me submitting photo ID and willing to pay extra for special fedex shipping that validates with an adult.

Had malfunctions with their Universal +1 Followers, they said nothing they can do about it. This was after the owner of Shooters Connection had emailed them. Waited for weeks, no response. Had to call in, I think they answered after about 25 minutes of the phone ringing.

Any time I've called, you'll be luck if anyone ever answers the phone. Last time I called, the phone rang for 20 minutes, no answer.

Taran claims you can shoot ANY 9mm ammo. Major/Minor/Magnum etc. But when I reached out to TTI, they essentially said they wouldn't recommend Major and that it would wear the pistol out in half the time. How long is half the time? They have no idea.

I made a review video after I put 2k+ rounds through it. Sitting at around 3k now.

After putting 2k+ rounds through my TTI Sand Viper, I finally sat down and filmed a "long-term" review. I had planned on doing a 1k round review, but that flew by quickly.

The gun has now been used in six USPSA matches, multiple practice sessions (drills & stages), and a few range trips.

This is not a sponsored video, I bought and paid for this myself. It took a LOT to be able to buy this for me, so I figured I might as well get some use out of it! Most folks that get these put a few rounds through them, then stick them in the safe.

Long story short, buy one if you absolutely have to have it, just go into it knowing they don't care about you and will not help you for any reason.

That’s your subjective opinion… I thought the 1911 grip really was the best with thin slim grips when I got my first 1911. I thought 9mm 1911s were the best thing since sliced bread. Then freedom week came… then a 2011. 2011 grip is hands down the best fitting grip I’ve ever held, especially the Cheely/Atlas Grip.

If you are going to shoot IPSC/USPSA/SC in certain divisions, you are at a disadvantage if you aren't running one of the 2011 variants.

I've shot guns for a long time and I have seen comp guns and gimmicks come and go. Rules will change, guns will change, comp stuff will always cost more than I think its worth. No they are Gamer guns. It is setup to game the rules as much as possible in competition. That is what they have been called for decades. It was dumb ass lighting cuts in everything and/or skeletonizing them to the point they don't run if you fart towards them. Running the weakest springs possible in 2/3 gun. It was ridiculous shotgun mags, or weird movements and stances. Its all a game in the end.

Good stuff always comes out of comp stuff, just gets de-gamered and turned into something reliable for everyone else.

Not the first person I have heard getting boned by TTI. Sucks that once they have your money they can't seem to follow through.
