2011 King, Dark Forge Reaper, Nighthawk TRS, Staccato XC, Sandviper, Atlas Erebus, etc.

I have a Sand Viper and overall love the gun itself. It has come with plenty of challenges though, so it may need to be tuned, depending on your application. I primarily shoot mine in Competition. It shoots insanely flat with 9mm Minor Ammo.

I was getting Failures to go into Battery, mostly from fully loaded magazines. This was most likely because it came with a 7lb recoil spring. Put in a 9lb spring and that has mostly went away. When shooting a match in the 100*+ weather, I hadn't put enough oil on it or the oil dried up, so the problem came back. I would have figured for the money they would include a tuning pack of recoil springs.

Mags dropping out randomly. This was my fault since I was pressing the mag release button. I wound up removing the big paddle on the oversized mag release and the problem went away.

The slide completely locked to the rear one time. The slide catch wasn't even engaged. No clue what caused it to this day, but it wasn't much fun to have to figure it out in the middle of the stage and I did see one other person saying this also happened to him, but he sent it back to TTI and did not appear to be happy about it or their resolution.

Everyone knows the 1911/2011 platforms need to be run WET. The problem is finding the balance. Too much oil and you'll be cleaning your optic after every. single. stage. Not enough and it won't be as reliable.

Then after all of that, spending doodoo tons of your hard earned $$$, TTI themselves don't give AF about you. Their customer service is literally the worst I've seen in the firearms space.

I wanted a custom barrel for mine. Either a solid barrel like the one they sell, or one with a bigger comp like they show on their website. They said they can't help, nor can they recommend anyone.

Ordered a Magwell, they refuse to ship it. Even with the signed AB1263 acknowledgement form and me submitting photo ID and willing to pay extra for special fedex shipping that validates with an adult.

Had malfunctions with their Universal +1 Followers, they said nothing they can do about it. This was after the owner of Shooters Connection had emailed them. Waited for weeks, no response. Had to call in, I think they answered after about 25 minutes of the phone ringing.

Any time I've called, you'll be luck if anyone ever answers the phone. Last time I called, the phone rang for 20 minutes, no answer.

Taran claims you can shoot ANY 9mm ammo. Major/Minor/Magnum etc. But when I reached out to TTI, they essentially said they wouldn't recommend Major and that it would wear the pistol out in half the time. How long is half the time? They have no idea.

I made a review video after I put 2k+ rounds through it. Sitting at around 3k now.

Long story short, buy one if you absolutely have to have it, just go into it knowing they don't care about you and will not help you for any reason.
Holy cow thanks for saving me a lot of money one day

No they are Gamer guns. It is setup to game the rules as much as possible in competition. That is what they have been called for decades. It was dumb ass lighting cuts in everything and/or skeletonizing them to the point they don't run if you fart towards them. Running the weakest springs possible in 2/3 gun. It was ridiculous shotgun mags, or weird movements and stances. Its all a game in the end.

Good stuff always comes out of comp stuff, just gets de-gamered and turned into something reliable for everyone else.
That's the point of competition... you don't drive a F1 car on the street

Not the first person I have heard getting boned by TTI. Sucks that once they have your money they can't seem to follow through.
It's not that they've done anything wrong per se, that may just not be their business model. BUT and it's a YUGE BUT, after spending $8k+ on a pistol, I would absolutely expect at least basic support for it and components. I'd bet if I bought an Atlas, they would have zero issues doing all of the things I asked. Hell, I bet they would do all of the things I asked to my Sand Viper. The long comp I mentioned in the above post is most likely one of theirs anyway

Here's the Open Gun type comp:

Here's the Sand Viper Solid:

I was willing to pay them essentially whatever it costs to have these two barrels for my Sand Viper. That way I could shoot it in USPSA Limited Optics, or Open and have a more competitive firearm for that division.

We all know that they are 99.99% likely not the ones making the 2011's they sell, so they probably just don't don't to deal with the hassle of sending it back and forth to whomever the actual builder is.

Either way, incredibly disappointed they simply don't care about their customers. I'd hate to see what a warranty issue would look like.

AB1263 has made a lot of businesses scared of CA, but many vendors have figured it out and it's not that complicated. Fill out the form, check ID, send via a carrier that allows for ID to be checked upon drop off. As mentioned in my previous post, Shooters Connection (and others) have figured this out and they are not even a CA based company. TTI is a CA based company, so they should be on top of getting these types of things figured out.

Atlas would not. They don't do custom work or provide spare parts like that (which would need to be fitted by someone anyways). The most Atlas does in terms of spare barrels is provide a ported/nonported barrel if you send in your gun for service such as a spare barrel for an Apollo, EOS, Ares, etc.

Good to know, I haven't looked around for anyone else to do either of these barrels, but I was given a local builder who comes highly recommended by many of the folks shooting competitions in my area for 2011 work specifically. May give him a call and see what prices would be like. This thing would be awesome in LO.

I'd bet Atlas would at the very least have some recommendations on who to call or where I might be able to get the work done.

Viking, now Valhalla, was a good option before they got too busy with custom work. Kind of the way it goes that a lot of quality gunsmiths end up realizing they can make more just fitting existing parts together for their own customs and charging more. Sucks though for us here in CA.

Atlas/perfect zero does sell and ship parts to here. I would look at jarvis for a barrel and d2 for a sight block if you really want to modify the sand thing, if it was mone I'd sell it and buy an atlas though. Or an mpa, or any number of other guns. Then learn to fit your own parts, it's not honestly that hard and then you will know your gun and how it works and why it may malfunction. I've never used a gunsmith ever except to do slide serrations/optic cuts and extract a broken screw.

Parts yes. custom parts for an existing atlas gun or extra barrels or a comped barrel like an Erebus barrel without the gun being sent in for service, no. They sell parts but not spares for their Atlas guns separate from servicing nor for models other than the gun being sent in.

That wasn’t the issue. OP wanted a custom barrel and a comped barrel to be provided/fitted by TTI. He expressed his interest in wishing/having Atlas do the same and I explained Atlas is no longer in the business of custom work or providing additional spare parts for their guns such as if you had an Artemis and wanted an Erebus comp and barrel sent to you, they wouldn’t do that.

Gotcha! To be fair, I think OP is asking too much of TTI/Atlas. They are not custom shops beyond initial custom order. If you’re ordering a new pistol, they MIGHT work with you a little more. We know Atlas will provide a 2nd fitted barrel for certain pistols if ordered through them. I also ordered my Artemis custom without a tac rail, but that really took convincing (That was also almost 3 years ago). But you’re right, they are technically no longer in the business of customizing and upgrading other pistols. They’ve moved on, and I can’t blame them. That has to be a headache of work fixing and fitting other people’s problems

They do sell barrels and sight blocks they just aren't fitted, or ever in stock lol. They're on the perfect zero website. But fitting costs as much or more than the parts on that

I’ve got an Atlas Titan SE RDS in 40 S&W.

It was a Black Friday limited run in 2021, before they offered the Titan with RDS. Came with 140mm DLC lock-back mags.

Super sweet shooter!! Now they’re up to v3? Do they shoot 3x as sweet? Haha!!

Yes, that's what I'm saying. They aren't going to sell you custom parts (as in custom to the gun you're modifying), fit them for you, or take one-off requests to modify an existing gun you send in. The most they offer nowadays is if you send in your gun for service they'll fit a second ported/nonported barrel on an Atlas gun that comes ported from the factory.

I miss the days they used to do crazy requests and one-off coatings, but the quality of the guns is higher than what it was in the past back during V1 and pre V1 days.

They are gamer guns. If you’re a gammer get the one you like best. Nighthawk has been making great 💩 for a long time. Staccato is STI in fancy pants and double the cost that they were for over a decade when no one really gave a 💩 about them. I’ll stick to tuned 9mm 1911’s, they have a grip made for human hands, cost half, have decades of good gunsmiths, and don’t shout LOOK AT ME! When you just go to practice.
Uhhh…ok

since you can buy an unassembled Atlas for around 2900, it makes no sense to have Atlas do one offs because it would cost insane dollars. They are already charging you 3500 to assemble and coat the gun just stock. There's not even that many things to do custom-wise these days, the formulas are all figured out as to what makes the gun shoot nice, there aren't really any secrets left that's why the dorks are putting v8 ports halfway down the barrel in addition to a comp. It really just leaves aesthetics and lots of places can do that. You want another barrel fit you can do it yourself or a ton of local gunsmiths that you probably don't need to ship to.

Yes, agreed. They've kind of priced it that way as custom one-offs aren't economical for them either. Same logic behind how they price the Erebus and Artemis and outpace the other models on price increases as in the time it takes them to produce an Erebus or Artemis they could make and subsequently sell two Athenas/Apollos.

Plus, by Atlas' own admission, a minority of their customers are competition shooters nowadays and they mostly see themselves as builders rather than gunsmiths. They prioritize high quality CNC machining with tight tolerances and minimal fitment required for assembly.

The only thing you'd get of value over someone else is warranty on the parts and work if Atlas did it all, but still not worth it.

I get the impression from watching their videos that they actually hate the way that the market is going, which is from primarily competition byers to casuals and collectors. I'm sure it comes back to them because those kinds of people will expect everything to just run without maintenance and tuning, but these just aren't those kinds of guns. People want the tight slide fit but not everything that comes with that.

Not the impression I get at all. Why would you want a small amount of people (competition shooters) who put real high round counts through their guns vs guys who barely shoot them and just post pictures of them with their watch on Reddit and social media. A lot less problems to address when the guns don’t get shot.
