How To: 3D Printed Carbon Fiber

Got a Pew Pew Parts carbon fiber compliance lower from @2azone. I already painted it, but it's looking a little rough. I think I want to get all the rough edges out, and make it look super nice. What's the best way to attack this?

So the base material is pccf for those. I have never tried to make them crazy smooth, I don't know what, if any, chemicals will help for smoothing on these

I'm sorry but that print quality is garbage.
I'd resand it maybe stepping up in grit all the way to 2000 , use filler & primer then repaint

Make sure you wear gloves and respirator when sending CF filled filament.

Yeah, I posted TWICE that they offered a refund. @2azone is the GOAT.

You know I just saw part of the image on my phone, and now that I am really looking at it that print quality IS garbage, like, how that made it to ANY customer.... I have no idea. I know we are already making this right for you but for the THREAD and anyone reading this: this is completely unacceptable. How this passed our QC and got built, and THEN shipped is clearly a miss internally. I already sat down with the crew and explained that this simply can't happen. That part should have gone right front the printer into the trash. I have attached pictures of one that just came off for reference of what it SHOULD look like. I HATE avoidable misses, this 100% was, and we will do better.

That's good you made things right with the customer , I have 3d printing autism so I geeked out a little bit wondering what printer you guys use.

Since the refund is happing this may be a bit late but I wouldn't suggest trying to "clean it up" - you'd need to sand carbon fiber which is its own kind of hell, then find a filler that will bond to it well. In this case you'd likely need a thixotropic epoxy coat the entire thing, smooth it, then sand the next day - repeat until you achieve the finish you want.
