AB 1615 signed: unsafe handgun rules amended for probation service weapons

My brother is a probation manager in Monterey County and he explained why the change was made. The 2021 law buggered up what guns probation officers hired after 2021 could be issued. Those trained before 2021 could be issued off-roster guns; he’s been issued a Gen-5 G17 and moving to Gen-6 soon. New officers had to be issued on-roster guns. So his department had guys carrying Gen-5 and Gen-3 Glocks and it’s was costing the armorers a crap ton of money to stock spares for both. Then it’s multiplied by the Glock ban. This law fixes that problem and goes back to old way of everyone getting the same gun. I guess they shortened the qualifying interval just to tickle their anti-gun ya-yas. It doesn’t make a difference for his department since they re-qual every 3 months in the first place.

I have to qual every 3 months so at least it's fair
