Feedback Advice needed. Calling on Colt revolver experts.

I came across a 1993 Colt Python on consignment at my local gun store today. It came from an estate ( deceased husband) and appears to be in pristine condition—I can't even tell if it has been fired.

The shop is asking $1,700, but they mentioned the price is negotiable.

I would love to get your thoughts on a few questions:

- Is $1,700 a good price for this condition?
- Is there truth to the idea that earlier Colt Pythons were manufactured better than the modern re-releases?

Any feedback or advice you could share would be greatly appreciated.

It’s too bad you have to pay sales tax and excise tax on consignment as well. Really hurts on a higher price like this, but beautiful gun!

I posted the serial number results from the colt website. I compared it to a modern version, and they look identical to each other.

I have no idea what it’s worth. Just saying $1700 is a lot of money in general that makes a 20% tax painful. But since it’s the internet I’ll speculate and say that’s a decent price if new ones today are $1500. Id personally much rather have a vintage one.

Offer $1500, and buy it. Early ones are better, but 60s vintage are probably the best when labor was cheap.
