Aftermarket Optic Screws for an EPS Carry on a SIG P365

Hi All,

This is an informational post and a buyer beware message to those looking to source screws for a SIG P365 and an EPS Carry Optic.

I bought a used P365 which already had an optic cut. Who did the cut? No idea, but there's no optic plate for this custom cut that will fit.

I bought an EPS Carry (green) but no surprise, none of the Holosun-provided screws work. The optic that came with it was a tan 407k red, wrong color body (doesn't match) and I prefer green dots. Apparently this is a known issue with the EPS Carry specifically. It works with the provided plate but I don't want to have to use the plate.

I sourced two screw kits, one from QVO Tactical in Las Vegas, and another set from TACRIG in Oregon. Both states are right next to us in California.

The QVO screws are softer, come with a super handy long T10 extender bit, some Vibra-TITE (which I would never use on a small fastener), and have more failure reports than the TACRIG, which is why I bought both sets. Both were ordered on the Thursday the 19th of this month. The QVO set got here on Monday the 23rd and the TACRIG set?

Nothing. I've seen some slow shipping (looking at you, Armory Craft), but how in the Intergalactic Hell are the TACRIG screws STILL not here? QVO at least offers tracking, but TACRIG does not. I wonder why, because tracking is accountability. It's almost as if whomever is supposed to be shipping the TACRIG set simply ignores the orders for a week before getting around to shipping them, assuming I even get them.

In any case, the QVO screws worked for the EPS Carry, but I was not able to torque down the screws to 11 inch pounds. The screws never had that final bite where the torque driver "snaps" to indicate desired torque. The recommended 15 inch pounds by HoloSun is way too high for these little T10 fasteners. According to CZ-Parts in the Czech Republic, the proper value is 1.3 Newton meters, which works out to 11.5 inch pounds. I love the customer support over there, and they ship parts from the CZ faster than TACRIG does from Oregon. That's saying something. CZ-Parts also has the best plates made by CZ themselves for your Shadow 2s and other optic-ready guns.

Has anyone else dealt with TACRIG and what was your experience? I'm going to reach out to them, but buyer beware if you don't have endless time to be in limbo with your optic sitting uninstalled.

Also, does anyone know where I can source M3 Torx Plus screws (8mm) for the P365? Amazon isn't working out. I did buy some different Philips head screws in M3x8mm and M3x10mm (all .5 thread pitch) and they do hold the optic, but they cannot be torqued to the specified value. It's as if they're not fully seated.

The screws that came with the HoloSun 407k optic work (and can be torqued) with the 407k that came with the gun, so I may just go for a black 407k and return the EPS Carry. Then, I'll have a tan 407k RDS (6MOA) to sell.

Don't order from TACRIG if you're in any kind of hurry!

Many optics use custom made undersized diameter flat-head screws.
You can take standard flat-head screws and reduce the diameter to fit into the counterbore in your specific optic and they work fine.
Just don't be surprised when your optic will not fit full-diameter flat head screws.

Huh, my EPS Carry (MRS green) bought a month ago came with three sets of screws and one of them fit perfectly for my p365, I think they updated the screws they include with it

Oh, now that I know that I will.Thank you! That's good price for 100 screws.

Shipping time is 3-6 weeks (hopefully not reallly that long). In the meantime I've decided to return the EPS Carry and get a 507k in green. The 507k has the same footprint as the 407k with a smaller 3 MOA dot that I prefer and multiple reticle option (32 MOA ring).

This should work with the screws I have (for the 407k) that can actually be torqued to spec.

You might want to try McFadden-Dale Industrial Hardware, they have multiple locations across Southern California. I build automation machines and often need screws on short notice, and their Ontario location has a very extensive selection. You should have no problem finding M3 countersink screws.

Yeah I researched this and depending on the model year of one's P365, either they're m3 or m4, and may require the Holosun adapter plate. I sourced some M3 screws in 8mm and 10mm and neither fit the same, so there's a strange incongruity in size which may be related to the screw heads and whether they're countersunk.

My P365 was acquired via PPT and was milled for the Holosun K footprint, for a nice low mount and co-witness with factory sights. Non-standard application. However, this off-roster P365 came with a Radian Ramjet and Afterburner (which is fantastic) and an Icarus grip. The Radian doesn't work on the current crop of LCI-equipped P365 models that one can buy new, so I it's worth investing some effort into sorting out this gun.

Plus, the cut area has no blueing! I'll have to do that myself too before I proceed with a permanent optic install with the 507k.

You’re welcome. Their screw selection is self-service, so you can bring your optic and slide in to test-fit the screws.

I didnt notice that the 8mm are out of stock.
The 10mm are in stock and will ship out monday if you order before noon on monday.
You will have them tuesday.
It's trivial work to shorten 2 screws.
 
I've never shortened a screw but good to know. How do you do it?
Take a little ~2.0" x 1/2" scrap piece of about 1/16" to 1/8" thick flat metal and drill a hole that the screw just slips through near a corner of the metal.
Now slip the screw through the hole and spin the screw with the appropriate driving tool while you put the end of the screw against a bench grinder.

I have drilled several different sized holes in the one I keep near my bench grinder:

If you don't have a bench grinder, you can clamp that screw holder down to a something to pinch the screw head and then file the end of the screw that's sticking up.
Make sure to deburr the sharp edges after filing so the threads will work freely.
If you leave burrs on the screw's threads, you can damage the threads you are screwing into and cause a bigger problem.

I have never found the need to do all the work to make one of those.
My little scrap piece of sheetmetal from a U-Bolt has served me well for 20+ years.
