How do you like reloading and what is your setup??

It's a super fun hobby of it's own, especially if your a tinkerer like I am.
Mark 7 Apex 10. seems to be pretty good. had some serious primer feed flipping issues and had to back and fourth with them a few times about before it was mostly resolved. Only do 9MM on that machine.
If I started fresh all over again I would probably go with the Dillon 1050 or 1100.

I bought into the whole "gamer" ammo thing the first couple years I was shooting in Carry Optics (2023-2024) and used the SuperVel/Master Class low PF stuff - 147gr projos pushing about 850FPS.

Is the juice worth the squeeze? I would say yes, if you're competing at a high enough level that min/max'ing recoil impulse/dot return means you beat the other M or GM, sure.

If you're a mere mortal like I am, I've recently been using whatever factory SAAMI-spec 115gr 9mm that I can get my hands on - in most cases, I've been using our Elite Armory 9mm remans at my matches since February last year and I've been very happy with the results. I'm putting up much better stage percentages/division finishes with "regular" ammo and more focus on transitions/confirmation levels than I ever did with "gamer" ammo.

FWIW - Elite Armory 9mm has clocked between 134-137PF at the couple of major matches I've been to recently that had a chrono stage.

Learn to reload

If you shoot competition, you want ammo tailored to the division and discipline.

If I had a kid I'd teach them to reload for me. Just another chore on the list.

I’m pretty new to competition shooting and was wondering what everyone recommends for a decent, budget friendly 9mm ammo.
I’ve mainly been shooting 115 grain, but I know that heavier loads are a better option for competition. Just not sure where to spend my money. I’d love to hear what you guys have been running and how it’s been working for you, especially in terms of reliability and recoil.

Check with your event organizer, sometimes there are discounts from vendors/manufactures that sponsor the match/competitors.

You’re overthinking this imo, if you’re a new shooter. Just buy whatever’s cheap and runs. I’ve had good luck with Blazer 115 and 124, Winchester white box, PMC, Super Vel. Really doesn’t matter until you’re at the higher tiers of competition.

Magtech steel case is the only ammo that’s given me issues to date which gave me repeated light primer strikes on my M&P. Runs just fine out of my CZ.

This is the way. Found mine for a deal with all the sensors but for someone loading only 9mm with components at retail pricing they're going to need to make about 100k rounds to break even.

I reload and have experimented with getting as close to 125 power factor as possible, sometimes even accidentally going lower than that. You can get less "felt recoil" but I don't think it actually matters because the dot still bounces and you still gotta grip right. In some ways I almost like a bit more recoil it feels like the dot comes back down faster. If you want to shoot reloads just do it yourself, masterclass is fine but it's reloads with mixed brass and it's not even that cheap. People definitely have issues with it sometimes like last weekend a guy had a round where the primer fell out and his firing pin got stuck in the primer hole and the gun was jammed for several minutes. If you are gonna run reloads you should do it yourself, pay a lot less and then you can only blame yourself for stuff happening like that.
