Ammunition Background Check and Unintended Consequences

Legal language is different from every day language with very specific meanings . Much of the “debate” is based on not understanding what certain words mean in the context. However in the Federalist Papers, The Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, the meanings of words and how they are used is consistent. It’s the modern misunderstanding of these terms that gives rise to misunderstanding. I’m saying this without correcting , but a few comments here are based on misunderstanding. The Supreme Court decisions have clarified this.
Not to correct as well, but the supreme court agreed that short barrel shotguns dont have a militia use right? And isnt part of common defense even though they were used in ww1. ignoring heller decision the militia is whom

I stupidly voted Yes on the ammunition background check thinking that criminals should not get ammo that easily, yes I was so naive and clueless back then.
I don't want to come down on you hard but what have you done since?
Have you contacted your elected representatives and let them know that this was not what was sold to you and they should pass a bill to undo it?
Anything?

I have more liberals buying guns than ever and all they do is complain about all the restrictions they voted for.
Call all the people who represent you and let them know that they laws are stupid and hurt their constituents.

They don't listen to me cause they know Im never going to vote for them.

Did you expect honesty from a group of people who literally finance the KKK so they can fight the KKK and blame it on their opponents?

No I expect people to listen only when they think it will effect them negatively. Right now so many people think if they have a R or D next to their name on the ballot that's all they need. The need push back from the R & D voters.

Bringing up the retarded things party X or party Y did is not constructive.

Pretending this isn’t the direct result thoughtlessly voting D for 50 years hoping everything turns out OK is counterproductive.

Telling people since there party has ruined so much its pointless now especially when they see error in their thinking is counterproductive. Most people are not far right or left and can be swayed to the other side when a topic effects them.

I don’t have any party allegiance. I am registered R just because I never took the time to switch to independent.

I can’t tell you that if R’s had enjoyed one party dictatorship in the state that things wouldn’t have been any different. They may not have turned out different at all. What I can tell you is that D’s have enjoyed 1 party rule for 50 years and this is where they have brought us. That is indisputable

Ultimately, the only paths I see out of this are (in order of my preference)

1) an informed voting populous who makes case by case dicesions
2) SCOTUS rulings adhering to the constitution
3) violent revolution
4) continuation of the status quo

It’s only when the parties both have to bide for the will of the people that the parties will even attempt to serve the people. Prop 50 drove a railroad spike through the heart of that possibility.

Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.

This is how we end up with insanity like this:

This is the one true way to change peoples minds... Our impact is small but material. I know for a fact we're changing peoples perception of firearms for regular civilian's and Americans and by directly showing that legislation is going too far for normal people and overly constricting its citizens..

Change is gradual then it will be significant, once one of the people we affect grows into making changes at the legislation level. Firearms normalization for regular people, will make a difference by making it accessible and less scary.

We do multiple things here:
  • Show how convoluted the laws are
  • Encourage following laws until they decide they want to make changes once they know the laws through voting
  • We have to put it out what laws are the most silly
  • We encourage safety and education
  • We promote training and safe handling
  • We bring industry to the community and community to industry
Feinstein and Pelosi are out, Kamala isn't going to be gov. There's an opportunity to get someone more moderate who can work for modern Californian's.

Unfortunately, the Democrat Party has veered to the far left, and is continuing in that direction with no end in sight. Self-identified “liberals” have risen from 25% to 51% within the Democrat Party over the last 25 years. Moderates and centrists have lost control of the party, and have no choice but to veer left as well in order to remain relevant. It’s gut check time for gun-owning Democrats in this state, as their party continues to pander to the agendas of gun-grabbing organizations throughout the country. “Moderate Democrats” aren’t coming to the rescue, because they no longer can. Demand change to the Democrat platform to the extent you can, but ALL gun owners are going to have to vote to protect their rights until that change comes.

I know a bunch of democrats who were posting about the CA Gov debate and how stupid the Democrats running looked and how retarded everything they were saying was.... People are starting to wake up. They can't just blame Trump for everything anymore...

So how does patronizing that group encourage them to vote against gun-grabbers? I'm curious to understand how telling people they're stupid for voting for who they do and they should vote with you, because they are racist and weak libruls and voting with you will make them sane and anti-woke.

It really doesn't make any sense to me, where if you know 70% of the state is D people thinking motherless 🐐ing at them and calling them names is going to magically make them follow you and vote with you because they have some epiphany..

IMO people have to learn and see why they're going too far, otherwise it's in a vacuum and people don't really notice. They think changing the law for the sake of changing the law is good, a la bump stock ban... But that gets a pass.

The need push back from the R & D voters.

That's exactly it: We vote for people to represent us, and we've seen plenty of instances where public pressure does in fact sway the decisions of the people in office. I've taken part in lobby days for my own profession, and despite what so many folks will have you believe, a lot (not all, of course!) of our representatives and their staff are actual people, who will actually listen to what you have to say, and outright welcome the chance to talk to constituents and hear from the people on the ground. A humongous part of our collective problem is that everyday folks don't get involved at all, and the strident, driven minorities are more willing to take the trouble to make their voices heard. Kinda like how it's mostly the tinpot dictators that go through the effort to get elected to HOA boards...

What are you talking about? When did I say any of that?

It's the bombardment of blaming swaths of people which is getting old. A lot of republicans left the state. They took their California money and left the state to go to free states, with Liberal Cash. Surprised?

It's not really up to us to change the Democratic platform, the shift that's happening IMO is people are getting tired of the waste. We pay so much in taxes and get very little service back. Criminals are allowed to steal while workers get $100-200 parking tickets. People are fed up with how poorly the state is operated and how little safety there is now.

That's the reality of modern gun control, very few people actually hate guns or are afraid of them. The vast majority of dem voters aren't like Newsom and actively trying to take away rights, they just don't really have exposure so if you ask them if people should have gun control or "weapons of war" (that's the one I hear most often that no one should have weapons of war...) they will vote for those things without knowing what it really means. Centrist voters want the police to come take care of their problems and not have to worry about violence. But in this political era (and I do NOT want to derail this into politics) it's more apparent than ever that constitutional rights are not being protected and that goes for due process, arms, etc. The gun community honestly needs better advertising because they are NOT swaying centrist voters, Treating folks like the enemy isn't productive. But I digress....
I think that is spot on the ideology for most non-gun owners. Unfortunately most laws are written in such a way to make you think they are for public safety instead of control. It's only once the laws actually affect you that you realize how ridiculous they are, which many never will.

To say nothing of how unbelievably lopsided housing is; I hear from a lot of people who say that they wouldn't mind so much if they were competing against other homebuyers, but instead they're lost in a sea of flippers, speculators, private equity firms, and overseas bazillionaires. Everywhere we look, people are being squeezed so hard that they have to work themselves harder than a medieval serf just to stay afloat, and then get told it's their fault that they're not getting anywhere.

Democrats are a centrist party, not 🍌 in any way. 🍌s consider the Dems conservative. It could help you to learn about the things you criticize, you may come to a more meaningful conclusion with actionable results.
