I’m not sure I agree with that interpretation. When I go to the range and rent off roster stuff and shoot it, how is that ok but simply showing it to me isn’t?
I didn't see "rent" in the Penal code.....
I don't have any Off Roster guns on display but I know when the CADOJ audits they ask to make sure they are clearly marked "Law Enforcement Only".

Laws say what you can't do, not what you can.
Having clear marking that this firearm is not for sale to someone unless they are exempt might get around it.
That said I don't know many dealers who want people handling guns for weeks until they get added to the roster and then try to sell them.
Ok maybe this is something you won’t do although I think you’re being a bit pedantic. There are dealers in so cal doing it and I read one had a range day with it.
Show me CA dealers with off roster guns in the display case that do not have a LEO only sign...... Again nothing is the PC says you can not rent or let people shoot one.
No one said they wouldn’t have a sign. Doesn’t mean they won’t let you simply handle the gun for a min. Idk what shop you’re from but if you wanna be a stickler on your interpretation then you do you.

Every gun store I've been to won't let you touch an off roster gun for sale

Every store is different. There's a few down in central CA that apparently sell off roster illegally to active duty military, so anything is possible haha

Turner's has them, but as others have said, they're in the LEO case and they aren't showing them to random folks. I haven't seen them anywhere else yet.

Yup saw them at turners this morning and they indeed wouldn’t show them to me. Went to a LGS and they handed them right to me. This seems to be a big box store thing. I never go to turners, just happened to be having breakfast next door.

They have too much to lose risking anything in a grey area. LGS has a lot less money to lose
Also small shops normally don't have Lawyers or a full time compliance person to keep up on the laws. Most small shops get tons of violations because they just don't know.
I've worked for a couple small shops in the past and been baffled that I knew more than the FFL holder. But they are trying to run a business and there is a lot in CA to deal with from just running a store....let alone a FFL.....in CA.

Same, and I even shoot competition with one of the dudes that was at Turners when I was there and he wouldn't even show me, lol.
Their prices are also garbage.
The LGS close to me will be much better
