Any tips on learning how to do stippling?

Hello everyone reading this I’m fairly new here so I apologize if I posted this on the wrong thread but I was just wondering if anyone has tips on learning how to do custom stippling? I’ll appreciate any advice I’ll take everything into consideration thank you for taking the time out of your day to read/ leave a message.

Depends on what you’re trying to stipple. A lot of shooters have moved to grip tape instead because you don’t run the risk of absolutely ruining a serialized part

Mainly trying to do custom patterns I personally own the echelon 4.0c I know it uses the cog system like the p365 so I wanted to try an learn how to do stippling on my own

I did a couple glocks back in the day, the hardest part is the border. as long as you get the border clean the texture is easy. I watched a ton of videos and tried to copy it and the guys that are good have just done a ton of them and I could never do it as well. You can get something functional very easily but definitely practice. A lot. If I ever wanted stippling done in the future I would probably find a guy with a laser honestly. But it's fun to DIY, especially if you can do it on a cheap grip module.

Stippling practice sheets. You’re essentially using a soldering iron with different tips to melt plastic. So it’s all about placement and controlling the heat. This company sells stippling kits as well.

I was honestly looking into laser engraving also that seems way more easier to get more detailed designs on grip modules and even on the slides , I’ll maybe try stippling a little to try it out and maybe get a laser engraving machine nothing crazy like an industrial one but something decent that will do the job

If its on a glock there are people selling chopped up frames to practice on. Every manufacturer has a different blend of polymers so its hard know when it melts. I would use a Hakko soldering iron or anything with an adjustable temperature to get that precise melting point.

20W Gweiki (has monport logo) I did the slot on top of the slide, it did not take as long as I thought it would , I will engrave a slide I have just to have fun and I don't think anyone will buy it so it will be a beater gun.

the laser is gonna be better for sure, if you do it by hand you can get a stippler and a few dremel tools for a fraction of the cost but it will likely be a fraction of the quality. With a laser you could actually do it for other people though

Echelon polymer grips are pretty cheap. Honestly though the Handle It grips on the Echelon are . Even in hot weather they feel so grippy. And they are custom made

When I started to mess around with stippling, I just went for it, lol. Don't recommend doing that.

Buy a glock box if you don't have one and practice on that. It's a lot more nuanced than you think. Youtube has a ton of great tutorials as well!

I've only seen them sold on OTD, which are OOS. Who else sells them? Looking to practice on a few.

Sometimes pop up on gun broker but back straps would work since its the same polymer

I’m of this opinion, strongly suggest grip tape. No matter how much I want a firearm, I never will be one that someone stippled. I can tell others think the same. Assume a huge drop in resale value if you do. I am very cautious about irreversible changes to a registered part (i.e. frame). Have I ever done an irreversible change? Yes but those are pistols and am 100% confident will never ever be sold. If they were, which I highly doubt as I very rarely have ever sold a firearm, I assume their resale value drops to half of what it could be.

Certainly would look much nicer. A local gun store to me does this and the results for the showroom examples looks factor professional.

to be fair OP is doing it on removable and inexpensive grip modules not a serialized frame.
