Question Anyone in So Cal mill slides for optics?

@2azone can you do this to retain the rear sight?
Probably depends on what style rear sight you have. It probably wouldn’t now that I think about it. The 1911 platform has a relatively small area to mount a red dot between the rear sight and chamber.

@2azone can you do this to retain the rear sight?
A nickel (USA 5 cent coin) is around 21mm diameter and a 407K cut is around 41mm long.
So 2 nickels will be about 42mm which is a tiny bit more than 41mm.
You need a few more mm between the rear sight and the breechface.
Take 2 nickels and lay them on the top of your slide in front of your rear sight and take a picture showing how much space you have left.

got my HK's back from Dual Hammer. top is a p2000sk with the EPS Carry. the bottom on the right is a USP 9 he did a RCR mill job for. it was FAST for the p2000, but the RCR he had to order screws for and it took them a hot second to make the screws for him. but if you wanna mount a RCR he now has the capstan screws for that

Can you still use those iron sights?…Or is the rear too low?

on the p2000 yes--the EPS carry actually has a rear built in but the rears line up. on the USP (both of them) it's like RIGHT AT the level of the red dot.
wright did the idot on my HK45c and they put suppressor height sights on. you can also just use the front blade and usually there's SOMETHING on the dot you can reference as a mid point
