I'll take myself shooting tomorrow with some freshly-zeroed, optic-equipped, and lubed small guns; DWXc, P365, BG 2.0.

It's the most common form of dementia, it is a slow progressing form that is like Parkinson's Disease that runs in reverse. It starts with loss of short-term memory, progresses to hallucinations, then delusions (cannot tell that his hallucinations are not real) and then loss of motor control. My father has been in the hallucination phase for about a year. It's pretty wild, he sees people following him around the house, sunsets look like the neighborhood is on fire, rain causes him to believe the neighborhood is flooding, etc.

As far as I know, Alzheimer's is the most common. Not a competition here, just saying that's what I've come to understand. It's terrible all around, seeing family go through that.

My son and I went shooting today, had a great time. Put another 100 rounds through my little BodyGuard 2.0 for break in, then we did about 300 rounds of 22lr together shooting at paper. It was a day I’ll remember forever, nothing big happened, but just a few hours together cheering each other’s good shots and crap talking the misses.

Dad passed in 2003 while I was deployed. It was 6 years coming, so not a surprise. I got his guns and take some of them out every Fathers’ Day to ground myself. Today was a good day.

Robin Williams had this form of dementia. Progressive and fatal if it runs its course. >< My mom had Alzheimer's, one of the worst illnesses one can get. Cancer sucks, but there's nothing like losing one's mind or watching a loved-one lose theirs.

Yea I've seen many people who were once sound of mind, then they're not. Sometimes it's probably tougher on the family that witness this.

i only knew my grandma when she had full blown alzheimers, now my mom has the obvious signs too. repeats the same questions a bunch in a row. it sucks what advanced age does

From what I've noticed, people who keep working into their later years keep a sharp mind. They start to lose it after retirement, I'm sure that's no coincidence. Keep your mind busy and working, no matter what you do.

my mom does stay busy even while retired, just got to repeat the same stuff over and over again but she can remember long term stuff pretty well. she doesnt mix up or forget any of the grandkids names at all
