Anyone use the Axil GS 3.0 during matches?

I'm looking to convert from muffs to ear bud style ear pro, and the reviews on Axil products are very mixed. People either love them, or hate them.

I am only looking to use these for USPSA, outdoors. My cheap Walker Razor muffs work perfectly (sound quality, noise reduction) so I am looking for something relatively inexpensive that is somewhat equal to those.

I know a few guys that use and love the Axil GS 2.0 but they have a new model out and wondering if they are actually better.

My wife has them and likes them.
I have the XCOR and after the first warranty replacement I still think they suck.
won't stay in my ear, noise cancellation is minimal, the touch volume up and down is finicky, left side rarely stays linked to the right.
So on and so fourth...
i went back to OG cheap ear buds or buds and muffs if someone is shooting open.

For me, they make all the difference in the world compared to the small rounder foam tips that come with the ear buds. They’re not compatible with the XCORs though. The XCORs are nice because they’re cordless, but the GS Extreme 3.0s are less finicky, more secure in your ears, and with these Max Protect foam tips they feel like they provide better protection. You have to figure out which sized conchas and tips works best for you, but once you dial in the right sizes they’re great. I still double up with foam plugs and ear muffs indoors, but these GS Extreme 3.0s are all I need outdoors. And the volume controls work great for USPSA.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been using Axil protection for several years, and for me: GS Extreme 3.0 > XCOR > GS Extreme 2.0

I use their XCOR Pro they are awesome with one serious (known by the MFG) drawback. They randomly drain power. So, you need to make sure that they are charged every time you intend to use them. I think its a firmware flaw that turns them into pairing mode and drains the battery but the company wont say anything about what (if anything) they are doing about it.

They are good enough that I'm trained to check charging before I shoot, but its a drawback and a serious flaw they should address.

This. I use the otto's with memory foam tips. Can wear them 8+ hours with no issues. Charge will hold for multiple days use

Awesome thanks for sharing this. I actually prefer to have the wire so I don’t have to worry about them falling out and getting damaged, or putting them in my pocket if I want to pull one out.

I’m going to pull the trigger and grab some of these tips as well.

The gap in cost is huge between these 2. I might eventually make that commitment one day. I was also looking into the 3M eep-100’s as well which are about half the cost of the Otto’s. They seem to get great reviews as well.

I purchased these after my 1.0 versions crapped out. I should have know better, since I went through 2 sets of the 1.0. These are worse. They don't seal at all. I have tried all the tips and the various sizes, there is still a lot of noise bleed in. They stay ok, but the originals stayed in your ears better. I am currently using muffs, until I can find a new set of something.

I used the 2.0 for matches and outdoor range. They were ok for matches, but not so good for the range especially with others next to me. I switched over to the EEP-100 with the skull screw tips and have been happy with it, for both matches and outdoor range.

Did you cut the skull screws at all? I like them too but they stick out for me

Negative. They go pretty deep though, which i think helps with blocking more sound for me.
