Are people that stupid or just plan lazy

However stupid or lazy you think some people are, the reality is often worse.
On the bright side, imagine how many of such people own guns, drive cars...or vote. Just kidding, it wasn't the bright side to begin with. Don't think too much about it the next time you're on the road or at the range.

As a career IT Director I can tell you it's much worse than you can imagine. I've seen companies outsource their IT operations to "save money" only to have the whole operation go to 
and their security crumble. One of my best engineers went to work for one of these companies for the large salary bump. He left a year later because he was appalled at the rampant incompetence.
