As mentioned prior this forum was built as an alternative to the moderation culture of Reddit.

Discussion is open on the forum, not a listing. They are separate dedicated spaces.

If you don’t think so, you can stay there. Trust me, I won’t miss you. I’ve heard this many times. I’ve said many times, I’d rather have a smaller community that’s easier to mod than one that thinks they can say whatever they want to whomever they want here.



Not the case. This was built out of my frustration with Calguns not working properly knowing I could fix it and the people there being dismissive about the failures.

We have more responsibility to moderate because we’re California specific and I’m sorry but Reddit is a billion dollar business and they ban people and subreddits for whatever reason. We have a lot of other things to consider because we connect people in real life. Too many people assume you can say x or y to someone else in a threatening way, but that can be used against you. We’ve found this out through experience because we used to allow things.

I didn’t just wake up one day and say, let’s be strict and make everyone mad and talk about me and our rules. We have had to deal with LEO which I would rather not do, which you have no clue about because you’re an end user. I don’t have the resources for that being donation based while trying to build up the site.

If you would like to take the responsibility of it, a forum is not hard to start. I can tell you people don’t do it because it’s ALWAYS easier to complain than to do. You don’t know the consequences that we have to deal with when people start making problems because they can’t handle an emoji or they can’t be told they can’t post about whatever.

TBH I’d rather not deal with those people. They are the loudest 1% and if they’d rather leave if they can’t. Please go. The majority of people understand they have the ability to click next or ignore or swipe on.

I didn’t create the site as a soapbox for people. The laugh emoji literally says forums only and was removed for a long time.

I see you sold or bought at least 12x here. This tells me, If you can’t support a site that helps you, but have the audacity to say we don’t do enough for you, please see yourself to the door and I’ll be glad to shut it.

If a person doesn’t want to see the emojis they can pay to remove it which supports you so you can enjoy a free service. At this point I have little sympathy for freeloaders who want more and give nothing but complaints.

I actually paid previously, but I didn’t really see the benefit. It may have been tied to my first account since I couldn’t log back into it for some reason.

One thing I suggested was a “tip jar” style system whenever you successfully close or sell a firearm. That would make a lot more sense to me personally. Every time I sold something on here, I would’ve happily left a tip as a thank you.

I’m not saying this is the worst site in the world — I’m giving genuine feedback as someone who actively uses your platform. If you decided to make it a paid site like TacSwap, that would honestly be fine with me. I’d gladly pay if users could openly comment on posts and even use simple things like emojis.

I hate Reddit because of how poorly the admins handle things there. Your platform could easily become a replacement for the CAguns subreddit, but that would require really listening to the community and what users actually want.

Sure, some people’s feelings might get hurt occasionally, but I think most users would prefer a more open environment overall.

Again I'm open to pay a tip per sale just make it easier to do so. I'm pretty sure you could make a decent amount that method as most people dont want a subscription

I tip the guy who does most of my dros work lol i wouldnt mind throwing a $20 for my post selling. But i do list in many places and half the time i get bored of the rigmarole and just sell it to burbank guns and ammo

I like the tip jar idea and getting badges for them. I honestly don't mind tipping $5-$10 when I sell stuff and considering the amount of transactions that happens it could generate quite a bit of revenue. This site has facilitated quite a few transactions for me so I don't mind paying into it.

I also did not notice the laughing emoji is for forums only until ikeo pointed out. I feel like most people just select the emoji and move on from it. There must have been plenty of warnings for the ads from that one guy asking twice MSRP for MP5 and HK pistols.

The upgrade is part of the tip. Here anytime you tip again, it adds onto your extra features.

If someone pays, they can have extra features one is disabling comments and emojis for THEIR listing. If it's public then they'll have to face the comments and emojis. It's coming soon, right now you can't pay to remove emojis.

The entire point is to shift the work to the seller to be responsible for their listing, not a mod. If the seller can control whether they want a comment or not, they're paying for that feature. Then you and others won't have to complain about us mods, because the seller has that control which they are supporting free accounts with. It seems like a reasonable compromise to me.

We're trying to make the site sustainable since we operate on donations and make no money from your actual transactions nor do we want to. This is a step to getting out of the way again, but since we've been donation based and donations are slow. It takes time for that kind of development and $$ to do it properly. I'm not about the vibe coding for this site. We pay dev's for some of our customizations and do some ourselves.

The one time is the tip but perhaps like others said i need to make it more obvious that its a tip, I always try to give value for the $ anyone gives to support the site.

We're not trying to replace r/CAguns, they're our counterpart. More 2A sites are better for everyone.

I also listen to comments from everyone, but if you ask for a ban if i don't do something then I'm going to ban. I appreciate the fact the site is continually growing but we do things in phases. I've been building out the training side of the house hosting our mason lane class among other things I need to handle.

Yeah, pretty soon all emojis will be ok, once a seller is able to disable them with a paid upgrade. I want to simplify things.

This changed when we changed the likes where it now counts. These little bugs happen which makes the site a little inconsistent. It's definitely on my list of tasks.

It was another mod that did this. Fortunately, there’s other mods who help keep things going. Some are more strict than others but everyone means well.

Sometimes feelings are hurt. Sometimes it’s the person that wants to leave the insult while they complain that people shouldn’t be so sensitive. We see it every day.

I 100% agree with you on that but you missed my point as well.

If there were no emojis, no one would be getting notices from the staff and getting butt hurt over it.

It seems like a complete waste of time for everyone involved, the user that feels they need to trash someone's listing and the staff to have to even deal with something so insignificant as a little pop up picture in a listing. I can't stand the gougers either but I'm not going to waste my time engaging in their ridiculous ad's.
