Yeah I understand your point I just think the value of reactions goes beyond the emojis themselves. This is a forum not just a Craigslist for guns.

People are going to react to listings and signal what they think is fair or unfair. That’s part of how communities est norms and help other buyers make informed decisions.

Without that interaction this place becomes sterile.

Agreed. We need to be able to give input whether that be positive for a good deal or negative as someone posted false information or a terrible price.
I believe that would really help solve the WAY over priced off roster listings. We need to bring a few people back down to earth

I agree as well but something 2x, 3x or 4x over priced should just be common sense to ignore and not need to be pointed out.

We are on the same page with this. I just don't think peoples opinions should hinder a listing if they are just a troll or a hater. Someone's opinion of an overpriced item could be someone else's fair market value for it.

Good to have an open conversation about it though.

I am more referring to the emojis used in a negative manner, not someone lying in a thread about something.

If something is grossly overpriced that's on the seller, not someone just scrolling the forum. Everyone should know a $500 pistol is not worth $1,500..

I think its wrong that a you cant point out a lie on a post without your comment being deleted.

Earlier my comment was deleted because i pointed out that the C4x being said is actually cheaper to buy from 2AZone than the listing on here. Now i wouldnt have commented that but the seller was calming its cheaper to buy from him than anywhere else.
I dont believe a user should be able to lie in a post or if they are caught lying isn't that what the comment section is for ? How are we suppose to watch out for each other if we arnt allowed to comment

Yea, I get it. I just figure with the internet (and especially AI making it so easy to price compare) folks will double check any facts. In terms of used prices, generally, many prices I see here are higher than what I would pay for a used pistol at my FFL. Just depends on how patient I am to get something. The one upside of giving all of your business to one local gun store is that they will call you when they get a used pistol (or know of where they can get a used pistol) you are interested in purchasing. My specific examples, I’ve seen many used Sig P229s P220s, P226s go for $500-700 within an hours drive of where I lived. Often much more on the used market here. That’s fine. If I had a pistol I liked and wasn’t in a hurry to sell, I’d ask more for it as well.

A Gen 3 Glock 17 was listed for $1,400. I reacted with a emoji because I assumed reactions were fair game on classified ads, while comments criticizing an ad were not:

If that's the rule I'll follow it but based on the terms of service and classifieds rules while there are prohibitions against harassment, fraud, misleading offers (OP's @pancakes argument), offensive content, illegal items and other "disruptive behavior".

What I did not find was any published rule stating that users may not use the emoji on classified ads.

My concern isn't the warning itself, it's the trend toward policing harmless reactions rather than encouraging open discussion. That's not the direction I'd like to see this commnity go. This forum was built as an alternative to the moderation culture of Reddit. I hope it continues to value open discussion and reasonable tolerance for disagreement rather than moving in the same direction.

IMHO Reddit has shifted towards sanitized forms of interaction where even mild expressions of disagreement, skepticism or humor are treated as moderation issues.

I would simply suggest that if laugh reactions are prohibited in classifieds, the rule be stated clearly in the published guidelines. Just state it (or remove the UI controls for it).
