You are right the laugh emoji isn't stated somewhere explicitly as a separate rule and probably should be, it is however called out innately when you select the laugh emoji in the classifieds:

I'm not clear why the thumbs down, face plant, and puke emoji are not enough to choose from.

Personally I don't consider the laugh emoji "harmless" reactions, more like mocking the seller and tends to invite others to pile on. For some of you who like to put the laugh emojis on many many ads, it becomes trolling. And then there's the retribution laugh emoji, where someone gets offended by a laugh emoji so they respond in kind on the offenders ads and any other ads selling the same item. For some it's almost like a sport.

While I agree that some pricing is ridiculous and unrealistic, I find the emojis childish and unnecessary and can be weaponized. I'd rather not have them at all.

Your platform could easily become a replacement for the CAguns subreddit, but that would require really listening to the community and what users actually want.

Sure, some people’s feelings might get hurt occasionally, but I think most users would prefer a more open environment overall.

Again I'm open to pay a tip per sale just make it easier to do so. I'm pretty sure you could make a decent amount that method as most people dont want a subscription

I think iKeo1 listens to the community more than most mods on Internet forums and allows a wide berth of opinions and behaviors, honestly a lot more than I would personally. The fact that conversations like this are allowed is evidence of that. He is open and flexible and is willing to change his mind and try different things.

Here are a couple of announcements and poll/discussions regarding emojis and post crapping from the past. As you can see the rules have evolved based on user input and trial & error. Just reading the comments you can see there are a wide variety of viewpoints and the people who comment regularly are a fraction of the full user base.

Thanks for sticking with us as the site continues to grow. As we bring in new users, we’re running into some inconsistencies with how people use the platform, especially in the classifieds.

Recently, we’ve had a few issues with users abusing emoji reactions in listings, including some doxxing attempts and inappropriate responses toward members. Because of that, we’ve decided to remove two emoji reactions for now. The “$” emoji is still allowed, and you’re free to use emojis in your posts where appropriate, but we want to avoid reactions becoming a source of drama or reports...

Alright peoples, it's been awhile since we had a poll. Let's see how you guys feel about this heading into the last half of the year.

We have two groups of people:

• One who don't like being questions about their prices.
• Another group who let's the community know prices are inflated.

With the recent glock bans we're seeing higher prices on Glock and people are complaining again about the negative emojis. Cast your vote so we can see what people think about it. Personally I like to keep them because I don't like overpriced things that linger. Most people if the price is good...

Yea, I've seen you make the comment before. I don't agree with that line of thinking, enforcing forum rules is the responsibility of the moderation team, not individual users through public shaming.

Dismissing other users' valid preferences as 'soft' is both rude and presumptuous. You cannot assume why someone dislikes a reaction emoji; many find it disruptive to business transactions on classified ads rather than emotionally upsetting.

Sometimes. But usually they are a bad way. Often, they don't improve behavior, but cause pushback.

Being hard is not a prerequisite for participating in a gun forum (or gun/parts trading forum). Upsetting people just for kicks is not a good way to create communication.

Agreed. We need to be able to give input whether that be positive for a good deal or negative as someone posted false information or a terrible price.
I believe that would really help solve the WAY over priced off roster listings. We need to bring a few people back down to earth

This is a fundamental difference in thinking, I have heard both sides of the argument in terms of price controls and generally we have decided a free market is the best way to go and will eventually right itself in terms or pricing. It is not the role of the moderation team, nor the role of individual members, to police prices, manipulate the market, or 'bring people back down to earth.'
Buyers are free to pass on listings they find overpriced, and sellers are free to test the market at any price point they choose. If you believe a listing contains factually false information or violates our specific posting rules, please use the report button so the moderation team can review it. Otherwise, please let the market regulate itself and refrain from commenting on other members' pricing on their ads.

Earlier my comment was deleted because i pointed out that the C4x being said is actually cheaper to buy from 2AZone than the listing on here. Now i wouldnt have commented that but the seller was calming its cheaper to buy from him than anywhere else.
I dont believe a user should be able to lie in a post or if they are caught lying isn't that what the comment section is for ? How are we suppose to watch out for each other if we arnt allowed to comment

You don’t need to make comments on the marketplace. People will buy what they want and they’ll leave what they don’t. It’s not necessary. Do you go into stores and randomly stand by certain products and tell people they can buy them cheaper elsewhere?

Frankly… the fact this threat has gone on so long with so much attention deliberating etiquette. I am impressed Mods have so much patience. But y’all wasting your time on this . Nothing productive will come out of this when someone ppl are just stirring drama because of bees in the bonnet.

On the contrary, it helps me see who puts thought into things and who doesn’t. The ones that do I take more seriously than the ones who don’t.

Etiquette is a lost art that I’d like to bring back. There’s an ebb and flow because we have different moderators who have agency within reason.

Members can appeal but we see a lot of crap all the time so we’re a bit desensitized to it where people it happens to tend to take it personal. It’s never personal. None of us know who you are nor does it matter. Your etiquette does because my goal is to build a community of trained citizens one by one who can protect themselves and their families.

The rest is noise if they are going to complain about complaining about prices when it’s not theirs to sell. If there’s legitimate advise to help grow the community, I’m all ears.

We had a lot of first time owners and also people who were reintroduced to 2A.




Plus it’s good for people to engage on the site and discuss. This comes up every so often, people cycle in and out all the time.

A lot of people don’t realize this is a hybrid site. It’s not just yelling at people online. My goal is to give people access to resources lawfully so we can make real change 1 person at a time if we have to.

The snowball effect is building and I’m thankful for the people who are passionate who continue to support and check in from time to time who want to help us help others.

You’re totally right. It’s great to have dialogue on ways to improve the community and the site’s functions. But it’s frustrating as a bystander watching you two so diplomatic while others whine for the sake of getting attention. There have been good talking points among this thread for sure.

Just to put a bow on this, the vast majority of moderation happens when someone reports it.

I don't have the time or patience to go through each ad and scrutinize them for emojis or craping.

I also think that if you don't like the asking price, and have no intention on buying it, STFU. Move On.
