Blew my Mind, Holosun is owned by the CCP/PLA

I believe vortex’s higher line of optics are actually USA made

that used to be the case, but now-a-days everyone knows China quality is based on what you are willing to pay for. It's no longer $0.01 If you want quality products, there's a price to it. The companies are not indirectly owned either. The country shifted with Xi to be more capitalism based with nationalism. We shifted from nationalism to capitalism, profits over people. This is especially noticeable in AI models. Chinese firms give it away, while US firms are at the opposite, but also with the optics.

Also, China funds education 4:1 military and has done so for over a decade. This is why their STEM graduates and technology boom hit in the last few years. Their engineering universities are producing more patents than ever before, even after US companies have been pulling out. If the US funded 4:1 education vs military, I'm sure we would also see a boom and not really need H1B's as much.

Some industries get subsidies, but they are not owned by the govt. You could say the same thing about the US buying American funds wars, it's just where you say it.

Just keep in mind to update with current trends. If you travel internationally a lot you'd see that the whole 👨🏻‍🎨t thing everyone is out for America, is a farce. The Chinese I see ( travelers ), are bougie af now. Social media made it more relevant for them where they are now aware that they have 1 billion people and have their own high society and interestingly, the gov't pushes back on being too extravagant. Their beauty standards and consumer standards are no longer looking towards the US to copy (drones, robotics, heavy industry). It's been amazing to see how much it's shifted over the last decade.

That's just my opinion from my observation.

Its more like 3:1 on education vs military, but those numbers are self reported and not to be believed. Companies may or may not be directly or indirectly owned by the CCP, but even if they are "private" everything they make and all IP is subject to being shared with the CCP. The bottom line is most all of that is being paid for via exports. They also don't distinguish between technology and military; they are one in the same in their strategic outlook and their plans for global domination. Their beauty standards have never been focused on America; theyv'e always copied Japan and Korea, both of whom they pretend to hate - well they do legitimately hate the Japanese but thats because the government tell them they have to.

The hate is deep rooted for the older generation because of war crimes like the rape of nanking. Older Koreans also have a deep rooted hate of the Chinese because of the Korean War. That hate is largely dying out for the newer generations.

You'll see Chinese tourists frequently in both Japan and Korea. It's similar to how we can visit Vietnam and the younger folks there don't care that we fought a very destructive and largely meaningless war in the homeland.

The latest from Beijing is posturing because the new Japanese PM is pro-Taiwan. China is discouraging tourism to Japan as a means of economic warfare.

Some people don't see what's happened in the last 10 years and believe what was, still is.

It's worth noting that almost any large corporation in China exists only because the CCP is allowed to manage it if they want to.

This entire time for 13 years I had no idea lol. Sucks.
I can honestly say I also had no idea. I just ordered one a week ago after reviewing a lot information on Red Dot sights.
I can only be mad at myself, for not checking further on manufacturing.

Oh well, as long is it works, if it goes out or explodes as mentioned on some replies, that is why I wear safety glasses and have back up sites.

To the subject. I did not know. I will continue to use what I have but if I will do my cz75b project I will have to find some other sight. I was looking at holosun 507k ..... But that option gone now

So, I'm guessing we are worried about funding the enemy? Gets a bit convoluted when our economies and supply chains are completely intertwined. I'm not a fan of Musk or Tesla, but the Shanghai gigafactory accounts for 52% of its global production. Is buying a Tesla also problematic?

China holds $633B in U.S. debt. You know that even if you're buying something from an “American” company, or in Tesla's case, a... "South African, American (but really Chinese)?" company, the supply chain is probably tied to the “enemy” somewhere.

The P365 I just sold had an Osight SE on it. Good optic, just that buttons are a little hard to press compared to Holosun, SIG, and Gideon.

The IDS (Israel Derangement Syndrome) is strong with this one.
Not a fan of all the messed up stuff Israel does but this thread should stay on topic. It was about the Holosun connections to the PLA, not all this other tangent stuff

Okay since you seem to know Vortex's supply chain setup... who manufactures the defender line then? Does Vortex have a manufacturing facility in China or do they partner with an ODM? Does Vortex engineer the entire optic or does their ODM partner (if they have one) engineer some of it?
Trump’s phone is made in China

Surefire LEDs are made in China. IPhones are primarily made in china. But we all use em with no issue. That battery in your RMR or whatever Trijicon optic is probably made in China. Like it or not you're supporting the CCP whether directly or indirectly. I mean 💩 even the article you linked says Sig collaborated with Holosuns parent company to manufacture their optics. Are you gonna boycott SIG for directly working with a company with ties to the CCP? Same as vortex which apparently works with Chinese companies to manufacture some of their optics.
I know you and I have done business and I 100% want to say beforehand that I respect and appreciate your opinion no matter what.

However I'm sorry to say this but I disagree on the Surefire lights. Surefire lights are 100% manufactured, produced, and sold here in the United States. It's one of the few manufacturers who actually have the certifications that allow them to say they are 100% made in the USA. Sure, the batteries are definitely made in China, that's something we can never avoid. China has usurped the United States in manufacturing and production and it's completely unavoidable to NOT have something Chinese made or sourced. But at the same time, it's important that we try to minimize CHICOM influence in our firearms and gear no matter what.
