All kidding aside, what if you put "none" and your background check somehow comes up with an employer. You sign the form stating "all information is true" could they deny your DROS?

They added Social Security number (which I do not fill in) now adding this. Overreach for sure!

I just checked DROS, i didn't see it implemented yet.

I’m not sure what the initial edition of this requirement looked like, but it has been on the books as early as 2011 as subdivision (a)(28).

It was included as subdivision (a)(25) in 2023, and continued as subdivision (a)(26) in 2023 under AB 574, which is duly adored for the additional requirement for an acknowledgment by the purchaser or transferee that they have, within the past 30 days, confirmed possession of every firearm that they own or possess.

Looks like DOJ hired an intern to run a checklist on their process, probably triggered by AB 574’s operational date of Mar 1, 2025. So, about 17 months to accomplish a DOJ data system update. That’s about right.

Based on the memo in DES, it appears that the occupation field will be filled in with typeable text. They also put a note next to the box that if no occupation, a dealer may enter none
