CA New Residency response and/or approval timeline?

Hey CAguns. I born and raised in CA. moved to WA for 4 years. Moved back and brought my firearms I acquired up there. Submitted my BOF 4010A and listed everything I brought. I mailed in the form to avoid paying $19 per firearm on their online portal. Just paid $19 for all.

Any of you completed the new residency declaration? I’ve heard that some never get a response. Yet I see people selling off roster firearms all the time.

If you have completed, how long did it take to hear back? Anyone have any issues with this process?

You can start PPTing your firearms as soon as you have a CA DL or ID. No need to wait to hear back from them. Now will that make it show that firearm was last in your name? Maybe. From my understanding AFS will always show your name on those firearms forever anyway.

Here’s a loophole, find a ffl you’re cool with and put up the firearm up for consignment and a ridiculous price, wait 31 days and go back to the ffl and since no one bought it say you wanna take. It out
They then do your DROS and it’s your legally in Cali now

This is great info. Looking to get out of a g19.5 I have and into a 17 or 34!

They are legally in Cali as soon as you send in the new resident form. I would not spend additional money to speed up the process except possibly to put it on a CCW. I would definitely not spend any money to conduct a PPT since the CA DOJ does not care who is the seller in a PPT unless the buyer gets denied and only then they would just be checking your background to make sure you are not prohibited.
