For those Galgunners as well as Cagunners that frequent Calguns.Org, it appears that .Org has had its account suspended. At least that the screen message I get. Hopefully I'm in error. As usual .Net is 504ing so cannot post there.

Apologies to the staff and members of Caguns if this post inappropriate.

I really wonder what's going on. Even though I have this site, its unfortunate to see CGN in this state.

When it comes to old software, .org was also running an outdated version of SMF board. I wouldn't be surprised if that site got compromised or the bills weren't paid. A lot of the CGN issues seem budgetary. They had a working system on vbulletin but opted to take it off because it was too expensive and put the site on an extremely low budget system. Now that its a better size, the current system should just be the database with the low budget system as the front end.

I'm not sure where this is going but its sad to see unfold. The lack of communication can be for personal reasons, so I hope Kes is okay mentally since he had a couple of rough years.

You are one of the few who have been granted access to post on .org. I am a lifetime contributor and I have been waiting for 10 months to have admin approve my .org account. No Smiting for me.
 
Seems like they just keep adding nails to that coffin.

I'd be really pissed if I was lifetime contributor. Where has all your money been going? What have they been doing with it? All the paying contributors and sponsors, and all you get is crappy run website that barely works, and a website owner who won't accept help for whatever reason.

I stopped contributing a while ago when Kestryll started ninja-editing/deleting my sales pages, and demanded they all be contained to a single page when confronted about it. Said it was eating up too much bandwidth, but frankly it wasn't my issue to deal with. Sounds callous, but I used CG to do a fair amount of business for a good number of years (nothing excessive mind you, just personal sales), and once that rule was implemented my sales dropped off a cliff, so I really don't have any love lost for their current predicament. Entirely self-inflicted.

I hear ya man! I've been an annual contributor since I first joined in 2008. No idea why you can't get approved on .org...even though it doesn't currently exist at the moment.

To be honest, I never became a lifetime .net contributor because I always had a suspicion something like this could happen. Seen it happen to multiple motorcycle forums. .Net has basically been down for a year now. Absolutely pathetic.

Is the type of issue that has potential improper management of funds? Is everything they are doing above board and legal? Is there any legal recourse for those who have paid?

There's nothing illegal about running a company into the ground. Even though I pay to be on there I didn't really have an illusion that it was nothing more than a donation. I partly did it (and still do I haven't canceled yet) as a way to give back and contribute to the 2A Community as a whole.

If I was treating them as a real vendor (as many of the actual ad sponsors do) then I would have pulled the spend months ago. I don't see any legal recourse anyone has really.

I was approved on .org in minutes, I guess it's who you know... 😜 Seriously no idea why. And yes same thing about being a lifetime member gcvt, I just contributed yearly as I felt that a few bucks lost is nothing other than a bad lunch, but a few hundred lost is a bad business deal.

I was able to get on .net briefly yesterday as there was some concern towards the well being of those of us that got caught in Helena's path, we're fine but without power and a generator running. About ready to strike out in the SxS and see if there are any neighbors that need help.

Thankful for this site, sorrowful towards the other.
