California used gun market conditions

Hey yall,
New gun guy in Cali here and just wanted to make a quick post to hopefully spread some light on how terrible the gun market is in CA at the moment. Im coming into this the same way I do most all my hobbies which is by gathering info on the internet via forums, youtube, etc. I am absolutely crushed to find out that damn near every single highly recommended gun I've found is somehow not legal here in the state of California. To add insult to injury we also have people that through their family get off roster guns just to then charge us hundreds even sometimes over 1k on top off the guns msrp for a normal guy like me to be able to get access to one. The crazy part is they do it under the guise of saying the roster is for "safety". If that was the case why do they allow law enforcement to have guns off roster? Do they not care about the safety of their own officers? Sadly it seems like its not about safety at all but rather doing everything they can to piece by piece law by law slowly disarm the citizens of California or severely limit our ability to defend ourselves. Is there anything we can actually do law wise to change this? It seems like it just keeps getting worse and being born and raised here for the first time ever I have been considering leaving the state recently.

If you are getting into gun ownership now, you are still way better off than you would have been 5-6 years ago. There’s at least new, modern stuff being added now which was realistically impossible not that long ago.

I think you summed it up pretty well. It's about control and disarmament.....not about safety. If it were about safety then there would be no carve outs.

For example, why are LEO exempt from the 11% excise tax? Why are LEO running around with unsafe handguns? Why can a LEO buy a .22 pistol with a large capacity magazine (its not for duty use)?

I use those examples, not because I want LEO to not have them, but because it illustrates the 2 class system. If you work for the government then you can have your rights. If you don't then you can't.

Join a gun club, get into Action Pistol, you’ll network to get whatever you want. People who are into shooting often buy 2-3 of a pistol and later on , they may change platforms and sell some nice pistols to offset the cost of their new ones.

Look for ads here or on Calguns or local consignment. I’ve seen quite a few off roster guns in my local store. From an ad is better as Private Party Transfer isn’t subject to unconstitutional fees and taxes.

Support CRPA. There are a few recent Supreme Court Decisions , upcoming cases and Federal Lawsuits that are the beginning of the end of the roster. CRPA, GOOC , FPC all need money for the cases.
The NRA hasn’t done a whole lot for us.

That's a bit of grievance mongering with respect to the officer who OD'd. You don't need that one-off incident to maintain your point:

Only reason the feds are getting involved is because of DJT jrs - ties to grabagun. He sits on the board and was awarded hundreds of thousands of shares (off memory I think 300k shares). That company went public through a spac about a year ago at 10$ a share, fast forward 1 year and it’s -70%, recent news regarding ATF actions along with legal maneuvers the feds are taking will help the stock but ultimately this is being done to benefit those that have a large interest in grabagun (PEW) not for the masses that want a firearm that’s not on an approved roster list.

Claiming the lawsuit exists only to prop up PEW stock is currently conspiracy-level speculation rather than an established fact. It also ignores the obvious explanation that the Trump administration publicly promised aggressive Second Amendment litigation before GrabAGun even began trading.

That's some tinfoil right there man... thank you Trump admin and Supreme Court picks for giving us back the gun rights taken away by left wing Democrats! Hate all you want, make up any reason you want - I'm happy they are following through on what they promised and are giving our rights back.

You have three separate facts and one unsupported conclusion.

Yes, Donald Trump Jr. has a financial interest in GrabAGun. Yes, DOJ is challenging California gun restrictions. Yes, GrabAGun could benefit if those restrictions fall.

What you have not shown is any evidence that DOJ filed the lawsuit because of GrabAGun, much less that it is the “only reason.” No emails, lobbying records, directives, testimony, or financial trail. You are just assuming causation because two things overlap.

The administration announced a broad federal Second Amendment enforcement policy before GrabAGun even went public, and the lawsuit benefits every handgun manufacturer, retailer, dealer, and ordinary California buyer, not just one company.
