I know other states allow one to self-manufacture a rifle or pistol as an individual who is not an FFL. I understand this process involves asking the ATF for permission and eventually having a serial number engraved somewhere on the gun.

Does California allow for one to manufacture a pistol, intended for personal use and not to be sold of course? What are the necessary steps?

Any information is helpful.

Yes but it’s a pain. I think Reno May made a video on this on YouTube. Go check it out.

Depending on what you're trying to pull off, this is something we can help you with

yes but you need to register the firearm with your own made "special" serial number to the CA DOJ
I’ve always thought it’s weird that there’s essentially no security in the FFL system. Anyone could make up a manufacturer and/or serial number. “Yes officer this is a 🍆butt arms S/N 69420, I bought it off some guy when I lived in another state”. Unless they catch you making a bunch of other mistakes it’s basically impossible to prosecute this.

The fact that the ATF treats nearly anything it can as a firearm expands this security hole. Order a gun to a cooperative FFL, engrave an 80% lower with the duplicate mfg and s/n, do a conjugal visit with the gun and turn back in the 80% (that matches FFL bound book entry) and keep the real gun. Tell the FFL to just destroy the 80%, you don’t want it anymore. End result is guns outside the FFL system.

I want to know too as well because I just bought a blank lowered registered as pistol still waiting for 10 days and my FFL was kinda resistant to do it as pistol but the person I did PPT is a cop which I didn't know and he got the paperwork saying registered as handgun

CA DOJ and CA in general dont understand gun laws or common sense. you better put that fin grip on your AR or AK for your safety!!

I'm not sure I follow....what is the "security hole" you are referring to? There's already millions of firearms in CA not in AFS. In other states self made firearms don't have to be marked at all so "ghost guns" are legal and outside of the "FFL system".

Specifically a krinkov. Would it be possible to register a PSA Krink as a single shot pistol? If so I’m interested in the process.

Anyone know if you can buy 80 percent jigs and kits ? I think there’s a store in apple valley that sales them but for some reason won’t do it in CA

If you’re in Orange area 2nd A zone and Portside can do a SSE pistol lowers.

These also aren't allowed to be sold here. We want to stay far away from anything questionable. We recently had to add Flux and Striker braces to the list too.

CA is pretty tough on this. Plus, my LEO friends tell me this is one of the biggest issues his dept sees. I don't want to mess with it.

Don’t think SSE is a thing anymore in CA. Any new handgun not on roster need to start as either single shot or bolt action pistol. No longer can one convert a semi into single shot for sell. To build ur own, need to apply for a SN with CADOJ first, once approved, then build the (single shot or bolt action) pistol and engrave the SN. BTW actual building can only be done by the owner.

Ca is tough on having 80s? Or flux/striker braces?

And what the hell is a striker brace?

Also as mentioned, one of my close friends is LEO, and told me a big problem is ghost guns and validated the report long before. I don’t want to have anything to do with 80% or 3D printed etc. It’s an ethics decision for me.

Considered a AW in this config. Might be legal in parts, but I don’t want people selling it here. Someone will say they didn’t know and found it here. I want none of that.

Also something that can be grey area. Might be legal in parts but again I don’t want to bring unnecessary heat.

Some people will say, I’m ignorant and they are right. I’m being conservative to avoid issues. The people talking are usually the first ones to point fingers and turn their backs. 2A laws is something I don’t deal with or want to deal with regularly. As a LLC we have the choice to limit what we provide.

I will stay in a narrow scope of legal configuration to ensure the site can continue without issue. The standard here should be super clean and compliant. Sell it in r/GAFS .
