Honestly I've stopped ordering glocks and anything in the $500 or less price point. I should probably look more at the $700 price point to lockout because this thing is going to be legit
 
I'm kinda leery about Turkish polymer guns after seeing those pics a few years ago of the Turk police officer with a striker sticking out his eyeball when the backplate of the SAR9 broke.... but if the Canik is only a few hundred bucks I'll buy one and make sure to wear my eyepro
 
I have a few Caniks including the Mete SFT and Rival. Best triggers out of the box than any gun I own and have ever shot. The Rival's trigger is amazing. You get so much bang for your buck with the Caniks. I know the MC9 had some early issues when it first came out along with the TTI, but new ones are GTG.

I also have a tp9sf I bought about 1.5 years ago locally. Saw it in shop 375 bucks figure why not fit hand great etc. first time out with it I was impressed shot really good trigger is crisp and reset is short. Was knocking steel down as good as my 1911.

6 months ago I wanted more capacity and got the mc9.I did wait to buy knowing early ones had problems but sold my g43 and got the mc9. Been very happy with it it’s a hair taller and wider but not enough to notice. Has 12 vs 6 rounds.

Not surprised to see ca get them they have the loaded chamber indicator. Hopefully you guys get the larger versions think many would be surprised by them. IMO best bang for buck.
 
I had a TP9SF Elite for a few years. It was a great gun. Really nice smooth PPQ like trigger. I ended up trading it for a Walther Q5. But otherwise, I would have kept it. I did notice the slide seemed heavier than similar guns because it's a little blocky, and the polymer seemed "denser" too. But it was a nice gun. I had no reliability issues whatsoever with the one I had. Mags are pricey though.

Glocks still do ok from what I can see, partly due to the range of caliber choices, but compared to other 9mm options on the roster now they're really starting to lag behind.

While other competitors are taking advantage of the micro-stamping law being struck down to add new models with desirable features, Glocks are stuck with a 20+ year old design that I personally can't see them updating just for California, probably because they think we should be grateful they're even still producing Gen 3's for us at all.

Not trying to bash Glock, I own 3 of them, and have owned a handful more over the years, but from a customer's perspective, unless you're on a strict budget or trying to do an aftermarket build, Glocks are becoming a harder sell when you're stacking them up against stuff like X-Macros, Hellcat Pros, 320s, VP9s, or even the new XDM Elite OSPs. And it's only going to get worse for them the more options become available.

Makes me wonder now that Gaston is gone if they're gonna cave and make a CA model, or do what they've always done, which is whatever the hell they want no matter what anyone thinks.

One thing to note is Glock doesn't just produce the Gen 3 for the California market. The Gen 3 is considered the "standard" or "base model" Glock design with the newer gens being more of enhancements to get additional market share. Kinda like how Ford offers F150s with naturally aspirated "base" engine vs the newer more powerful EcoBoost engines. Actually, I think the 2.7L or 3.5L EcoBoost are now the base engines but I digress. There's nothing wrong with the Gen 3 Glock, just like there's nothing wrong with a base model F150 for those that are looking for a basic tool to get a job done. But of course they don't have all the latest features, which is what many consumers want now because competitors are offering newer designs with new features.

Yeah, I was more poking fun at Glock and their stubbornness for change. I get there's still a lot of aftermarket support and various contracts for Gen3s that they're fulfilling, but California Glock sales are a pretty small percentage of their U.S. sales overall. Eventually they're gonna need to move on instead of dumping money into an outdated design, which is what makes me wonder if they would actually give in to California's mandates, or just say to hell with it and pull the plug altogether.

I think there are still long term agency and mil unit contracts for Gen3.
Like having a blanket fleet rate contract in 2024 for 2005 service vehicles + parts.
Aint broken, negotiate the next decade+ span lower, collect a bonus for reducing waste/cost.
