Feedback Canik Mete MC9 problems?

Yea I've seen those, it's nice. Thing is though if it's going on my ccw, I worry that a slide change would be considered a "modification", which Long Beach PD has already told me no regarding anything that changes the action. So the less changes I make on a ccw, the better.

I mean, they would allow an off roster version you got through PPT, that's what it would be if you get the slide. My IA doesn't care about mods so I'm not sure, but I doubt they look at it closely enough to be running your SKU and seeing if it was the version with the LCI

Then get an off-roster one that comes complete in the configuration that you desire.

It just gets weird when I'm told no mods. And if off roster, no guarantee it's completely stock. So I just won't take that chance. All good, I've got options. MC9 looks like a good one, I'll just give it a bit more time before grabbing one.

Yeah it hurt to buy mine but I love it especially because I didn't feel like I needed to do anything besides throw on an optic.

Long Beach doesn't go through Sheriffs? I ask because I was worried about modifications on my guns but sheriffs website says as long as it is legal it is ok.
Still I wouldn't do certain things like triggers or quotes on it as that is a whole other pain in civil litigation.

Definitely seems like there is a grey area here. Would definitely try and find someone at LBPD who can give you a clear answer and ask can you optic cut your slide or can you buy one that comes cut and put the stock internals in it?

I had the same issue.

I noticed my gun would not go into full battery like 1/8 of an inch. and if you pulled the trigger, it would not fire (no primer strikes)
You will need to monitor to every shot to see if it not going into battery. if your push it into full battery it shoots fine, if you do not it will misfire.

I submitted a ticket with Canik (There customer service was very responsive) Canik sent me a new recoil spring, but it did not fix the issues.

There are a bunch of videos on YouTube about this issue if you feel comfortable and want to fix it yourself.

What I did,

I sanded the plastic on the frame where slide goes over. Be careful not to scratch the metal. The plastic (middle and back) was very rough and uneven and this fixed my issue.

Maybe over time, the plastic would eventually smooth itself out because I did notice plastic scrapings when I changed the spring, cleaned and oiled the Canik.

I handled it at a local shop today, gun feels good. Obviously I would need to shoot to form a real opinion. But what I saw there, I liked it. But these issues are a real problem. I'll wait it out. I would like to get one eventually.

Hello,
I recently bought a Canik MC9 and shot it for the first time today. I put around 100 rounds through it and had several failures to go into battery which I know was an issue for these when they first came out. I have attached a few clips I got from the range. Please advise if I am doing something wrong (besides anticipating and flinching lol) or doing something to induce the malfunction. I limp wristed a mag but had no problem so I am unsure if it is me or the gun. Note there was no light primer strikes either.

I have since cleaned it and lubed and while it ran much better for about another 120 rounds it still had some malfunctions. I talk to one of the guys that works at the range I go to and while he says I am limp wristing he advised me to make sure my thumb is down for a stronger grip. I will admit this did help because I noticed the malfunctions happened a lot less often but it did not go away completely so I have now reached out to Canik for how to proceed.

My guess it would be a recent one because free state versions have seemed to have problem solved.Im sure it is made slightly different than version i have.Does yours have a mag disconnect safety?

I think the first models couple years ago the feed ramp could be modified too,

I actually did ask about this last month by email. Their response:

The laws are constantly changing so if you are looking to add red dot/laser, trigger components, etc. the answer is no, to be on the safe side of the law.

You need to ask only ONE question at a time so they can give you only one answer to your specific question.

Just follow their policy as you choose to interpret it.

This is a good point. I think LBPD is just giving you a "politician" answer. Sheriffs has it on their site that as long as the mod is legal it is fair game.
