I waited to buy a Tesla until Musk was cool. I realize now that I should have done it sooner. Great car that fits like a glove and can go anywhere a gas powered car can go. A super charger can have you topped up from 10 to 80 percent in about 20 mins. I installed the home charger and I can have it fully charged overnight regardless of where the percentage is. I see no difference in my utility bill (to be fair, we use a lot of power anyway). I am 100% on board with owning a Tesla, it is not a political purchase, it is a financial purchase and Amenities and luxuries are the topping.

I still won't give up my F450 and my 7.5mpg Jeep w/Hemi.

The "self-righteous" part is in your head. It's just technology like any EV (or any tech) and comparisons with other vehicles can be made using real-world metrics. Engineering, not politics.

Although, I am kind of a tech bro. 28 years in video game development and many more as a 3D Artist for other industries. I've always been tech-savvy and future-focused.

Went to work night shift (forgot ccw)
Got off 6am and was driving home 3 lane highway, I was in 2nd lane and 3rd lane merges into me, there was uhual pickup who apparently got upset because I didn’t move over for him to merge, I kept driving but he passed me and started brake checking me, I proceeded to speed up and kept doing it, then he started throwing bottles at my windshield so I called 911 and reported it, while on the phone the 2 lanes turn into 1 lane so he’s in front of me and suddenly stops blocking the complete lane with the truck sideways (barricades on both sides)

I see him get off and walk towards me with a handgun, I reached in my console for mine but realized I forgot it, I couldn’t reverse due to traffic behind me, no where to go he came up to my window and said he’s crazy and if I want to die while pointing the handgun at my head, I’m still on the phone with 911 and there hear everything. Meanwhile I told him no I don’t and he said “you don’t know who your messing with” proceeded to try to take my wallet I told
Him I don’t have anything and he walked back to his truck, the operator heard and said you can meet an officer at the local gas station for the report. (She didn’t care) and that was that, ever since then I never forgot it

Well that sounds terrifying. Was there enough room to (theoretically) run him over? Not trying to Monday quarterback, just curious about the distance to his vehicle, room to maneuver, etc. Glad you're ok.

You can with the right disconnect device. They're made expressly for that purpose.
Superchargers have a lot less incidental crime as it is, so even without the disconnect device it's a lower overall risk. Nobody's hitting up a Supercharger to rob a non-existent cashier.

There probably was 15-20ft or so, I wasn’t really thinking but it would have been justified.

Not sure of the exact time, but that draw seemed fast. You can tell dude was aware of his surroundings because his body language shows he spotted the kid approaching in a shisty almost immediately.

Speaking as criminal defense attorney, be very, Very, VERY careful at gas stations. They’re one of the most common spots for robberies and—by far—the most common spot for carjackings.
