No, I’m not asking if one should carry while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

I’m curious if anyone who has a CCW purchases edibles…or, to ask a different way, does anyone think that might be an issue since they ask for your DL.

There's no possible way they show that information. For reference, I don't do anything marijuana based but knowing how the government works? I wouldn't worry about it as long as of course never carry while under the influence. That said, I did deny a purchase one time because somebody tried to use a medical marijuana card as a second proof of ID when purchasing a firearm...

The purchasing of drugs in and of itself is not reported to the CA DoJ or federal agencies; so even if the dispensary checks your DL, those records will probably not interact with gun ownership or purchasing.

However, anyone who uses MJ (including in the form of edibles) is prohibited from possessing (or owning or buying) any guns, under federal law. And while people always say that this is never enforced, one just has to look at the news to find cases where it is. Although most of the cases are when users buy guns, and lie on their form 4473.

Dispensaries do not give their customers info to any Law Enforcement agency. They have a secure private system…
Law enforcement won’t find out about the edibles as they won’t come up in any background check and the dispensary doesn’t care if you are a gun owner/CCW holder…….
Do with this info what you may - of course legally guns and cannabis are a no no

The above should end discussion on this matter. Instead, folks will bring up state law, no one checks, have you ever seen and whataboutisms.

In my opinion, it's not practical to disobey a Federal law in this manner.

As do blood sample tests. If you read the CHP dispatch log, it's amazing how often they have to send a blood tech to either the accident scene or to a hospital. And they test for more than alcohol. Will they charge anyone they find with stuff in their blood who is also a gun owner? Not usually.

On Target Range has a new hire, an Asian, who also posts on reddit. Looking through that person's reddit profile/history, shows he is an active user of MJ. They even helped him get a CCW.

I'd add- and for effing sure the time it will be enforced is when a CCW carrier has to blast someone.

I'll say what everyone is thinking, if you are connected high up enough it really doesn't matter.
