CCW shooting in Cerritos at Restuarant

yeah the first part of the summary that says "many cases arent reported to the cops" applies everywhere on earth
Every area is different. In the hood there is "no snitching" culture about calling cops or speaking with police that doesn't exist in suburbs and rural areas.

sure and that would apply to Houston as much as Los Angeles, the two largest cities in each state. Houston's crime stats are significantly worse though, but less than Oakland of course. My main point isn't to say Texas is worse, it's actually very similar we are worse in some things and they are worse in others but both within the same order of magnitude. I just don't see the issue of crime being one of enforcement ideology.

I work criminal cases and anecdotally people absolutely see and react to the level of enforcement, there's a reason crime tourism exists. If dudes know enforcement is low or punishment is low of course they will commit more crimes and be more visible.

El Salvador is a good extreme example. Very high enforcement and crime there has fallen lower than in California.

But this seems off topic to CCW lol

Bro it used to be bad when people googled 💩 and posted an article they didn't a understand but posting an AI summary is literally retarded
How many logical policies can you cram in one sentence? I count four. And zero attempts to support your own point.

No one has refuted my point, if you have other numbers that say that Texas is significantly different in crime stats you should supply it. you didn't even identify the logical "policies". Google AI summary isn't a source though.

Oh I absolutely think that enforcement matters as a baseline, what I'm saying is that I don't think there is a night and day difference between urban areas of similar demographics in Texas vs California, the narrative is that Texas is tough on crime and ca is soft, but we arent actually that soft and Texas is only hard in certain ways like the death penalty. but the outcomes between the two states are very similar. I think it's an interesting topic because I'm curious as to what actually works, does keeping addicts in jail at our expense work? Do we want every shoplifter to get a felony which basically guarantees they will never get a real job again work? I don't think there are easy answers to any of these things

Heading to Nevada this weekend so I looked up their respective CCW laws. I didnt know NV allows you to carry at a bar and have a few drinks as long as your not over 0.08%
Funny enough that’s kinda how permits used to be in CA before Bruen depending on agency. I was told in my first CCW class it’s basically officer discretion but why risk it. Same thing in Texas when Iived and had my permit there, you could consume alcohol but it was a risky move imo

It makes even more sense than you can imagine because the property crime rate in Texas is the same as California's and they have a higher violent crime rate and a higher homicide rate. The property crime rate in CA increased 2.1% following prop 47 but there was a larger increase after 2011 when the state was court ordered to release prisoners due to massive overcrowding and an even larger increase during covid. Overall while prop 47 is correlated with some negative outcomes with the positive outcome of saving the state close to 1 billion dollars, those outcomes are still similar for property crime and significantly less in violent crime than a "tough on crime" state like Texas. Texas is actually one of the least violent red states, it gets much worse as you go down the list. The pandemic caused a pretty big blip in the statistics but they did that everywhere. Overall the entire country and especially Los Angeles is significantly safer today than in the early 90s when the homicide rate was 400% higher. If you actually want to solve these problems you will have to do better than just making 💩 up blame.
You’re free to believe what you want. I’d wholly disagree that quality of life is better now than in the 90’s, cherry picked statistics aside.

I didn't say "things are better now" I said the murder rate is substantially lower, in Los Angeles by a factor of four. It's a fact that the early 90s were the most violent times of modern history. The urban centers in California are objectively safer now than then, by a lot. That doesn't mean that quality of life due to other factors is better by any means.

You're wasting your time being factual, he won't listen. He unironically believes federal agents are tracking his every move online and his cell phone
