CFARS New Resident

1. The form is the "Firearm Ownership Report", which looks exactly like the "New Resident..." form.

2. TBH, my knowledge base was not then what it is now. I simply met family in AZ, took them back, and brought them here. Was it 100% legal? Knowing what I know now: absolutely not. Did I then do what I thought was right, by then registering with CFARS? Yes.

  • New Resident Firearm Ownership Report ($19.00 processing fee)
    • As defined by California Penal Code sections 17000 and 27560, a personal firearm importer is any person who moves into California with a firearm that was acquired from outside of this state and who intends to own and possess the firearm in California. A personal firearm importer is required to report ownership of their firearms by submitting a New Resident Firearm Ownership Report within sixty (60) days of bringing the firearms into California.
So we shall see what happens, I got here about a month before the guns did and from the site and the civil code it is when the guns get here, not when I got here.

Okay, I'm just relating my experience. Hope it all works out expeditiously and fairly.

For sure. I am annoyed that the site is so poorly worded. So doing what it says compared to what people are actually experiencing so it’s a crap shoot. Still no “errors” for me to correct so i’m just sitting around with my thumb up my ass until who knows when.

Very California.

So they are processing some and want photos of a bunch of them. Let’s see how the photos go.

Different scenario but just for reference. Cali resident but had moved and needed to register something at my new address to purchase ammo. I received a response I was good to go the same day.

I dunno, probably, lol. It's been a very hectic week, so I may have responded to the wrong person. Apologies. 🤪
