Cleaning and lube for firearms... what are you using?

Frog lube anyone?

Yes. I use it on my garage door rails. Makes then slick and quiet. Lowers the drag on the motors.

I use Rem oil in the spray can for door locks and hinges.

Hopped #9 makes a great smelling salt.

I had Lucas Gun Oil in an AR-15 that sat in my safe for about a year. When I finally got around to taking it to the range, the oil had hardened to the point where I couldn’t even charge the bolt. The RO and I had to slam the butt of the stock down vertically onto a bench several times while pushing down on the charging handle before the bolt carrier group was finally able to break free from the hardened oil. I took it home and cleaned all the oil out, most of which had transformed into a green solid that looked something like rock candy. I threw the rest of my Lucas Gun Oil out and have been using M-Pro 7 gun oil ever since.

Recently, I’ve started using Clenzoil gun oil here and there too, because I like the needle applicator it comes with, and that stuff really stays in place. I don’t know what it will do long term though. I do know that the M-Pro 7 does well long term.

I think we have learned two lessons from your story: first, don't use lucas gun oil for long term storage, second, you need to shoot your guns more often!

Hoppes bore cleaner for bores
Hoppes elite (Mpro 7) for generally everything except the bore.
Slip Ewl 30 to lube everywhere internal

I have an old bottle of some CLP that I think is FP10 to wipe down outside of metal. Just using it up.

My friends seem to like Lucas oils a lot I never tried it though.

So just out of curiosity what is everyone utilizing to maintain their fire arms. I've floated for cleaning between Hoppies and Simple Green All Purpose Cleaner. Lately it has mostly been Simple Green as it is "all natural" and does a pretty good job. For lube ive utilized Hoppies, but also moved over to utilizing Mobile 1 Synthetic 0w-0 motor oil. Its cheap and works great.

I mainly use wd40 sprayed in a rag to clean and to lube motorcycle chain lubricant, like motul

Not loyal to anything particular. When ever I run out of something, I just pick what ever catches my eye. Currently for cleaning I use: CLP, Hoppes bore cleaner, and/or Hoppes Black copper cleaner. Oil: Lucas gun oil or Milcomm 2500. Grease: Milcomm TW25. Wipe down the outside of firearms with Rem Oil.

Funny that's never happen to me before. I will think twice before I use it next time, maybe go back to my old ways of just using mobil 1. Never had any issue when I used motor oil either.

Wipe-Out bore foam for cleaning the bore.
Slip 2000 EWL or Weaponshield EWL for oil.
Mil-Comm TW25B in the syringe for grease.

I keep breakfree CLP on my workbench for assembly work.
A drop before pushing new roll-pins into new parts makes the pins go in easier.

For cleaning I will use hoppes or whatever solvent I have on hand, lubrication I use 30w motor oil and wherever I need grease Lucas synthetic

You need to be more specific as to what gun and where you want to grease and then what NLGI number the grease is.
