There's a practice at linden once a month, you can become a voting member at Sac Valley which is a huge pain in the ass and takes over a year, or also a few places may let you use their action range if you get RO certified.

So there's nothing published or regularly scheduled for clubs at Sac Valley, El Dorado, Lincoln...?

For example,

• Richmond (RRGC) - ~monthly practice for members that are action range qualified
• Diablo Action Pistol (DAP) - has action practice the first 4 Saturdays of every month, 2nd and 4th Thursdays, DAP membership required
• Saturday Night Steel - at San Leandro Rifle and Pistol Range is every Saturday night. Not competition focused and requires a separate orientation, no membership required
• Linden (LCSC) - every 3rd Saturday of the month, $10 for LRG members, $15 for non-members (I haven't been to a practice here yet)

I was trying to become a voting member this year but discovered that if you don't pay your membership dues by the 31st of Jan there's a 150$ penalty and if you don't pay that by Feb 28 you lose your membership completely, forever. Of course after being a member or several years I have never received any kind of email or regular mail or any other indication that I am a member except that my range fees are less money.

El Dorado Gun club has IDPA matches. Membership is not required. Although a defensive pistol certification is required. Which I took at their range. It's every 4th Saturday of the month. $40.00 fee. IDPA matches start at $25 for non members and $15 for members.

- Is this a class/orientation or a skills test?
- How easy/difficult to signup?
- Does it include an IDPA classifier?

It's both. Not necessarily a skills test but to show that you are competent in handling, holstering and unholstering your pistol.

Once you shoot your first match, you can essentially signup for any other matches you may want to compete in.

Just curious if there are any competitions in/around Sacramento. Looks like a lot of fun.

Looked around a little bit and it looks like Lincoln Rifle Range and Sac Valley may be the only places around this area?

I'm in Northern Sac almost to Roseville, so if Lincoln has some competitions that would likely be the closest.

I looked on Practicescore and it seems a bit difficult to find clubs and I looked at all the threads in this forum section, but it doesn't seem there are any that are geared towards Sacramento/surrounding.

Sac valley is an OUTSTANDING facility. Lots and lots of stuff going on there. Non voting memberships aren't real expensive, do it... I did it for the 1,000 yard range and found soooo much more to do.

no you don't I don't know why he said that. The 1000 yard range has to be reserved and closed down to use because you basically drive through it to get to the targets and instead of having targets at different distances you move to different distances. The non voting membership doesn't give you any more access to all the specialty ranges it just gives you a discount on range fees which is worth it if you go about monthly.

I'm a voting member at Sac Valley. If ya ever want to go on the action pistol range, hit me up. Maybe we can plan a trip. I like to reserve range 5 to play with pistol or rifle if wanted.

Also a member at DAP and TargetMasters. Both have been great to shoot at for USPSA.

Non voting members only have access to the same public ranges, not the action range, the steel range or the 1000 yard range unless you are with a voting member, but that's also the same as just not having a membership. From the bylaws:

Non-Voting Member: Non-Voting Members have reduced cost access to the public ranges 1, 3 and
4, seven days a week. Non-Voting Members may have access to private ranges 2, 5 through 12, as a
guest of a Voting Member or as part of a club match or other event open to the public. Non-Voting
Members receive reduced range fees according to the Fee Schedule and a 10% discount on
merchandise purchases.
