Consensus on gun apparel

I’m a pretty private person, the last thing I want is some random telling me they like guns too, or better yet, that they hate guns. I just don’t care to have the conversation one way or the other.

No Braging about past accomplishments !!
Got rid of Almost All gun and range shirts .....
Took Gun and NRA stickers off Work van..... Only have a small Newscom sticker with a circle and Slash thru it .....
Years Back :: Wearing a Big lettered Glock shirt in the store checkout ,, Boxbox asks in loud voice " What's a Glock " .....Turned a few heads ......Nope not doing that again.

The only shirts I wear that even imply guns are from black rifle division and they’re more niche schizo type shirts, that being said I def cringe when I see dudes with over the top grunt style, 9 line, or F- your feelings liberal type shirts cause they’re always overweight and I immediately scan if they’re printing at all which they never are cause they probably don’t carry. It’s just weak posturing imo. Same goes for stickers on vehicles, your PSA and Keltec sticker aren’t a flex on your pavement princess tacoma.

That all said I did wear a wolf ammunition t-shirt to a concert in SF and had one guy come up to me and laugh cause it’s not something you see often

Lmao idk about now but when I lived in the barracks you could find seas of buff / jacked sailors and marines wearing moto shirts like that.

Which sucks, because motorcycle insurance is $$$.

I got my first motorcycle license in Japan, where I had to work my way up through 250cc, 400cc, and eventually unlimited. I started with moto gymkhana, then moved into amateur track days. Gymkhana was especially useful in Japan because of the tight, narrow roads.

When I came back Stateside, I took the CMSP class. Compared to what I was used to, it was pretty boring. Slaloms, tight turns, basic low speed stuff.

Yeah because this is California, the standard is through the floor. Also the CMSP MTC is designed for someone who has never even seen or touched a motorcycle before, which is why it’s so comprehensive on the basics. Most students I’ve seen with riding experience still struggle with a lot of basic concepts.

A few years ago I had a guy ride his Harley to the Livermore range and he ended up failing the skill eval lol. I was actually surprised tbh. Also scary to think people like that are riding or driving.

People on here talk about dumb people having guns but cars and bikes are way more dangerous statistically.

The 1 day premier IRC is much better for someone who has experience but wants to get licensed. It’s intermediate level. You have to be able to do the DMV lollipop though to enter the class and “experienced” riders often can’t even do that lmao.

I got licensed to teach for the state when I was like 23. I’ve had multiple students tell me they’ve been riding longer than I’ve been alive. Yet you don’t have your m1 and still suck at riding, ok. It’s a lot of that same stuff with gun ownership. I usually wouldn’t bring up that I was a licensed motorcycle racer either unless the other instructor did. Funnier that way sometimes

It’s hard to believe that’s real but I believe you. And it’s scary. I think the scariest part of freedom is that all of those people get the same freedom we do.

You get to enjoy the exact same amount of freedom that you allow everyone else to have. ‘All men are created equal” is actually a pretty restrictive statement.. the systems and authorities required to restrict the rights and freedoms of others will work just as well on you..

The DMV lollipop test is easy if you’re a decent rider and not on a pig of a bike, but I’ve never figured out how it helps someone with normal hazards on the road. Nothing about counter steering, the fact that your rear brake is nearly useless in a hard stop, etc..

The fear of the front brake is probably the worst habit I see. I can go 95% of my full speed in the dirt without a rear brake, but when I’ve lost the front it’s 50-60%

I aced it. After lunch and before the instructors teturned, I hopped on my loaner bike, an ex Beverly Hills police Kawasaki, and gave the W pattern a go. Aced it the first time with that pig of a bike. I then did the W many times, both directions, never once dabbing my foot. But all that came to an end when the instructors returned. They apparently weren’t happy I was riding their motor when they weren’t there.

I’d still be riding except for the stroke I had a few years back. My last bike was a Honda ST1100.

My bike still had enough power to out accelerate a Dodge Viper. It weighed 725 lbs fully gassed.

I gave it away and planned on getting another bike, probably a Yamaha FJ1300, but my stroke put an end to that.

Not so much anymore but when I was 18 and didn’t care about dressing nice in the military I had a bunch of grunt style or edgy or gun/2A type of shirts and other moto military whatever.

Now that I’m an old boomer I have to dress up more often and it’s not a lot of graphic t shirts these days.

I noticed with the online crowd some people are extremely nervous about supporting the hobby publicly or wearing gun apparel or clothing. California is definitely a bit different, because in other states I lived in definitely nobody will care or judge you badly.

I used to live in the Bay Area and work at Twitter HQ so I get ‘being around the hostile to gun culture left wing type of people’.

Stickers on your car or truck are one thing because I could see the argument that criminals might be more likely to break in thinking you’ll have a goodie inside.

But what’s the fear factor about wearing a HK hat or t shirt etc? That isn’t making sense to me. If the idea is that a criminal will target you because you have a Walther polo or a CAguns t-shirt, that sounds so far fetched from a statistical standpoint it’s almost purely fantasy.

The bigger sin was carrying a HK at the same time.

I went to dinner once and saw a man dressed almost exclusively in gun apparel. I called this the gunion look, every layer was gun related, down to a pair of Leupold prescription glasses.

I don't see any concern wearing a gun branded shirt or hat, but holy moly if you're covered entirely in gun branded clothing and accessories, big yikes my guy.

Sometimes wearing certain gun apparel gets you things.

Ammo Bros last tent event in Santa Ana for example. Everyone wore like bass pro hats or sports ball caps, etc. I was the only one to wear a Vortex cap. Vortex reps throws 1 cap to a person standing in line. Guess who that is? (Got 2 more free caps later, total of 3 that day.)

Saw the same rep at Riflegear event, and got more free caps lol.

Don't rep Savior gear though, they don't do for a regular joe customer.

They owe me a table stand target stand gift, and other verbally promised gifts from tent events. I have purchased over 20 Savior cases, Louis (their PR/Events rep knows and offered the gifts), later for them to backtrack saying Louis no longer works at Savior.
